The authorial and immersive Ingmar Bergman's cinema often was a barrier for my movie's taste, it doesn't means that I reject it whatsoever, I've been discovering many treasures at its filmography likes THE VIRGIN SPRING whereby I consider as near masterpiece, upon this point I tried watching their pictures just periodically, so in my first experience with The Seventh Seal on DVD I've confess I won't ready for such metaphorical vision concerning death, God and meaning of life of which the Christian warrior Antonius Block (Sydow) back from war crusade meanwhile faces the devastation thru the deadly decease black death at mid ages in his journey backing home.

Now as a mature cinephile on Blu-ray experience I've finally understood this encrypted picture of the master, so I can see in every single frame Bergman's overview regarding the God's silence, mainly in this bleak period of our history, where the church imposed a hard suffering to conquer the sacred place Jerusalem where Jesus no longer was there, it sounds pure and useless vanity, also punishment on those sinful people that dared not believe in church as ruler, as Bergman tries exposes in self-flagellation and burning the Witches at bonfire, so thru a travelling circus's happy family Antonius finds his so awaited God's answer, for the he'll tries mislead the menacing Death in a chess match that mercilessly lurking around.
