Ken Loach delivers in this well directed powerful drama that shouldn't be watched by the faint of heart. Only adults 18+ should view this (Don't watch if sensitive). In the depressed town of Greenock. A teenager is determined to help his mum get out of prison and lead a normal family life. He lives in a poor district in a poverty stricken home. I'm not a huge fan of Scottish movies, but this one is definitely up there with the very best in Scottish cinema. Liam, the top billed actor in the movie plays as a responsible teenager who lives a tough life and is amidst anarchy and trouble. He mostly enjoys spending time with his friends and causing some trouble himself. There is not much hope for Liams future as a family man and his poor mother in jail. I can't take anything away from this movie, but I would have gave it an 8 or so if there was more humour and hope for Liam & his family. The film is by no means entertaining to watch and for some is a hard dose of reality of life in the rough areas of Scotland. Watch at you're own discretion as there is a persistent, non-stop barrage of swearing and very strong language along with some disturbing scenes of violence and a dark, intense atmosphere throughout.

Very dark, and very frightening. Quite possibly the most frightening experience one will have playing a video game. One brilliant thing about the Silent Hill series is It's unpredictability. For instance, when you hear a noise and think a monster is there, It's actually just a sound effect to surprise you very sharply and make you panic and wonder. The Konami team do an exceedingly good job of creating genuinely scary sound effects that can have you on the edge of your seat, sometimes so sudden that your heart skips a beat. Although Silent Hill 3 isn't the best in the franchise, it is far from the worst. I would rank it as the 3rd best in the series after the 1st two games (In my opinion) being my favourites. The eerie, creepy, gloomy atmosphere is done again, really well. This is one of those rare games that can actually give you nightmares. The Lakeside Amusement Park, which is one of the oldest operating theme parks in America is incredibly eerie, especially when Heather 1st enters the park and falls to her knees in agony as she is giving birth to a demon god. Most modern horror of this generation (Again, in my opinion) seems to lack that "Fear factor" and just seemingly focuses just on the gory violence. Silent Hill 3 executes both these qualities, and even more so in terms of fear factor. Any Silent Hill fan who hasn't yet played the third installment to the series, is missing out on a great game. Highly recommended for any Silent Hill fan.

Pretty disturbing and disorientating at times. The Machinist is pretty disturbing but compelling and mesmerised me throughout. John Sharian plays as Christian Bales "Tormentor" if you like. His character is particularly disturbing and brilliant. Bale is superb as an incredibly thin industrial machinist worker. He only weighed 8 stone, 9 lbs in this! There are 2 comments from women saying "If you'd be any thinner, you'd probably be dead" It's hard to believe he put on 109 lbs in the 2005 Movie Batman Begins! Christian Bale, whom plays as machinist Trevor Reznik has frequent hallucinations of Ivan (John Sharian). There is a disturbing incident involving Reznik and Miller (Michael Ironside) in the workplace. Reznik hallucinates and sees Ivan, who isn't actually visible to anyone else, and when eye contact is made between the two. Ivan does a disturbing gesture across his throat. Bale inadvertently catches a button with his back and Miller's arm becomes trapped on the conveyor belt. Bale can't stop, even with the emergency button. This results in deadly consequences with Miller having his arm amputated by the sharp blades on the machine. A chunk of his arm is shown spinning in the machine. This is IMO, the most brutal scene in the whole Movie. Bale catches Ivan on the road and yells "We need to talk!" Bale says "A guy lost his arm, he could have died!" Ivan replies "Thats not my problem. You caused the accident, not me." Bale later on ironically gets his arm trapped and blames Miller for the whole thing. Telling Miller it was all set up as a revenge plot on Reznik. Later on, Ivan takes Rezniks son to an empty building and when he finds Ivan in there, to Rezniks horror, he finds out Ivan killed him! Bale attacks Ivan and Ivan says "Where's you're hospitality partner?" You can't expect Reznik to be polite after what Ivan did to his son. Reznik attacks Ivan, who is armed with a knife and takes the knife off of Ivan by surprise. He violently slits his throat and goes to dump him in the sea rolled up in a piece of carpet. In the distance on the beach is a bald man resembling Ivan walking down the beach, with Ivan's motionless carcass in the carpet. Reznik throws the dead body into the sea, but to Trevor Reznik's horror, the body disappears like magic! The man behind him flashes his light on Reznik and utters: "Who are you?" Reznik is in sudden fear and is paralysed to the spot in disbelief. It's Ivan, and he's alive! And, not only is he still alive, there are no wound marks on his throat! Ivan then says: "Well, looks like you've got some explaining to do partner." And he chuckles like a maniac. Ivan gets his revenge by sending Reznik to prison and taunts him as he walks into prison. Reznik is left in a cell and the film ends. I like the eerie atmosphere giving it that horror and gloominess. It is one of those Movies that drags you in and has you glued to your seat. I highly recommend anyone to watch this, especially if your a Bale fan! Give it a watch! My rating: 8/10!
