It's hard to believe the budget for this movie after you've watched it, to say that it hasn't aged well definitely gave me a good belly laugh out loud. No, its certainly has not aged well at all.
In fact Damnation Alley is so poor I struggled most of the time to watch it without finding something else to think about or do. The plot seems good on the face of it but it the comical execution makes it so tedious.
A group of survivors from a self destructive military base head off into the desert to play some poker machines, encounter some laughable armor plated cockroaches and later meet some radioactive hillbillies.
Points for the casting though and the occasional fiery explosion. The flood scene was pretty cool too.

Ignore the mummy or zombie on the movie poster, that was probably what annoyed a lot of viewers and it makes you wonder why they did that because the movie itself is very enjoyable.
So a small group of archeologists uncover an unusual pyramid tomb that they believe belongs to Anubis the god responsible for directing people's journey to the afterlife. So the pyramid is buried very deep into the ground so there is a mystery as to when or how it was built was never further explored but that's all we are told about that.
The adventuring group that includes a journalist and her cameraman and the archeologists venture in after they are told that their time on the dig site has expired. So they aren't left with any choice but to either leave empty handed or take a risk and they decided to take a risk and enter obviously.
Most of the movie is spent in the tomb which is good, these guys aren't Indiana Jones they simply portray every day people so there's little swinging on ropes, shooting guns and other heroics to be found here. Most of the time they suffer from being the victim of the tombs many traps which really went a long way to creating tension as the team slowly gets stripped down.
This movie is far more horror than adventure, better than The Mummy in that respect because they try to keep the supernatural element to a minimum so it doesn't get that wild fantasy feeling to it. I found this very appealing and refreshing considering most movies like this can't help themselves but to pour on copious amount of unbelievable eye candy fictional visual effects.
Don't get me wrong though there were times where I thought the behaviour of the characters was extremely shallow, like how they cope with each others deaths or the way they rarely point the finger at each other which you would expect. They also disregard too easily what danger they are in and make a lot of foolish decisions. But the action and the horror is still very good.
The Pyramid is dark, scary and makes for a great horror with an strong adventure and plot to be explored and enjoyed. Highly under-rated all because of the movie cover I believe which is sad because a mummy would not have made this movie any better. The Pyramid has a great set, good directing and acting, fun plot and script. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I've watch it many times already because it is very re-watchable. Excellent Horror movie with a good horror ending.

Firstly I have to say that this movie has appalling musical scores that makes it feel like a midday tv drama. For $10M they could have done a lot better and it really lets the movie down in so many ways. Secondly, the script is childish unfortunately and a bit on the light side but that might just be the action side as there is plenty of it.
The movie is basically about a temple that has been dug up deep underground. There's a theological spin added in with some Event Horizon ,Feast, and Doom blood and gore effects to keep us blood 'n gore hounds happy which was definitely a highlight of this movie. Lots of gory possessions and even some t&a.
The movie is a search and rescue that turns into a fight for your life very similar to the movie Doom in that respect except its not a sci-fi based in the future and the ending is dreadful and makes little sense. Man-can-climb-900-feet-in-seconds, that alone I know can annoy a lot of people and could be to blame for its poor rating. So if you aren't one of these people that need an entertaining movie to have a perfect tie up at the end you will probably enjoy it otherwise you've been warned.
