I don't know how the makers of this doc got the rights to follow up Heartworn Highways, but the folks featured here don't meet the standards set by the original IMO. There is some real talent in Nashville but the group this doc focuses on come off as...something else.
I was hoping to come away from this doc with a fresh list of music to check out but there wasn't one that really stuck out to me. The fact that there is no generally available soundtrack associated with this new version is also telling.
Fancy restaurants and bougie parties don't feel like outlaw country to me.
There are some heartwarming moments and it's always good to hear from the OGs (Guy Clark and David Allen Coe both make an appearance).

This show has a great tone to it, as a longtime fan of Norm I'm happy to have something on Netflix I can rewatch.
