I put off watching this because I thought it was just another silly movie where a few actors enjoy themselves making it, while the audience rolls their eyes, but it was deliberately made that way, and it had an underlying, understated quality that shone through and took me quite by surprise. I guess I should have known better with D'Arcy Carden and Susan Sarandon starring in it.
Shameik Moore is a very talented actor with surprisingly good moves and comedic timing, and I can see why these two high-profile actresses were happy to work with him.
I had a good time with this and didn't get bored once. I've given it a 6/10, but I wanted to give a 6.5.

This could have been such a great, entertaining, epic movie, but they turned it into a self-indulgent, soul-sucking, tiresome gala of race-baiting. I ended up fast-forwarding it after about 45 minutes because I couldn't take anymore. On top of that, they made the Wicked Witch out to be a misunderstood, well-reasoned, and morally refined character who has been wronged so much by the wickedness of other people she gets all "Carrie" on them. Some people are just born evil. Why did they have to make the Wicked Witch so nice and morally perfect instead of just being an irritating, toxic thundercount from birth like the original movie led us to believe she was? The only saving grace of this was the vocal performances of Galinda and the Witch. Needless to say, I won't be going anywhere near the sequel.
Rocket the raccoon gets injured and the crew have to retrieve a pass-code from his original maker in order to save him. Obviously this isn't an easy or straightforward process and things go sideways... a lot.
I never give movies 10/10, but I made an exception in this case. This is what movies are supposed to be; wild, entertaining, emotional, and epic and this hits all the right notes for me.
If you read any bad reviews of this movie then the people giving them are projecting and exposing their own nitpicking, negative mindsets. Just stock up on popcorn and enjoy the ride.
Also, those of you who are awake will recognize the underlying narrative that knocks the global control of the "Illuminated" ones and child trafficking.
