I was not able to bear more than 15 minutes of this. I could already tell this was revisionist history, with little regard for the truth. I am just glad I didn't have to pay for this. I have walked out on many movies that I found to be insulting, disrespectful, inaccurate, or just propaganda. I would have walked out on this one too. I do give credit to the actors for trying to make it through a bad script, you will see what I mean within the first 15 minutes. The men that fought in WW2 deserve to have their sacrifice and accomplishments presented in at least some degree of accuracy. This is a script that sould not have made it into production.
It brings us back to a simpler time. The story is heartwarming and the acting is top notch. Believing costs nothing, children's eyes light up at the thought of meeting Santa Claus. Once we quit Believing we lose the magic that comes with being a child. This movie along with It's a wonderful life, and Charlie Browns Christmas are tradition and I am never too old to enjoy them.
For those looking for a strong and wholesome holiday special, it is hard to find much better than Miracle on 34th Street. "Miracle on 34th Street" is a nice mix of holiday sentimentality (in a good way) and genuine feel-goodness.

I first heard of this title from a Naval Historian Drachinfel he spoke highly of it so it was a must see for me. I love how they portray life at sea during the war for the escorts, it was not glamorous but the danger was ever present and life and death decisions made instantly that affected hundreds. The sea is most certainly cruel for those who survived the initial sinking and so few were actually able to be rescued. I am sad to have seen the passing of this greatest generation, but their sacrifice has saved millions and improved life for us all. May God Bless them.
