I was totally hooked on this series and binge watched it. The writing was so very clever. The idea that this kid was telling the story from prison was such a great move because as the story goes on we get to know he's somewhat expanding the truth in places. The rest of the characters were a unique blend of people with stories of their own. As the series continued I thought this was going to be one long single story that would tie up by the last episode.... The "AAAAAARGH" was because the series was obviously supposed to come back for another season. The end of the series had all these loose ends so we really don't know what actually happened that made the police ask where all these loose ends bodies were. We are left drawing our own conclusions as to what happened next. If they knew it wasn't going to get renewed they should have had one more episode to tie everything up. All in all..Even though I'm very disappointed in how it ended I still really enjoyed the series..

One thing that is immediately clear is that this is a show that sticks to the action and doesn't become just another soap like all prime time series are basically required to do on legacy tv to sell commercials to women as well as to men. It is refreshing that so far it's just the story lines without who is hooking up with who. The stories seem pretty realistic to boot. Having a show with so few well known actors is also a really smart idea because that too adds to the ethentic feel of the show. It's like a cop show for grown ups. I can't help but wonder though how shows like this are going to continue going foreward with so much of LA destroyed? I hope they can figure something out that keeps it going.

After the pilot where I was very underwhelmed I thought I would at least give it one more chance. I don't think I made it ten minutes in the second episode. The plots are just written like a junior high school project. Then again Dennis Leary's usual sharp wit is both missing, and what is attempted just falls flat. I guess because he played a hard nosed drunk fire fighter and a cop in two different series they figured it would work as an army officer. Part of the problem was in those other series he broke the rules, but usually for a good reason to help others. Here he is supposed to be the top brass in what seems like a dumb joke in the first place. I've never served, but I've heard wild tails by some who have. Somehow a base like this one just does not seem plausible in the military. So Leary being sentenced to it for insubordination seems just so dumb.
