It's hard to tell if the filmmakers wanted this to come off as a serious documentary, but then got confused and threw some fiction in. Weird, and not weird in a good way in my view.
Now I don't want to go off on a rant here, but my guess is that the director and screenwriter will look back at their creation and be embarrassed by how heavy-handed it is. I allllmost turned it off after 20 minutes or so because they let you know who were the good guys and who were the bad guys with no nuance whatsoever. And not just people - technology is also bad, drones, AI, big data, you name it.
At about the 40-minute mark it calmed down into something watchable, and I started getting interested. Unfortunately, about 10 minutes later it devolved right back into a propaganda piece.
It is really laughable. Even the soundtrack is overdone. This is an embarrassment to film, to the documentary art form, and to reasonable, sane people with a Progressive viewpoint.
But, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
I gave it 3 stars because the editing and production quality were pretty good.

The premise is good. The production quality is good. I don't have any huge problems with the acting. . Written and directed by Andrew Niccol, who is responsible for one of my favorite sci-fi flicks, Gattaca. So why did I hate it? I am not completely sure, but I thought the script was really weak. I had a few audible groans. And, a few twists were just not believable (I know, it's science-fiction, but even still). Usually, I am pretty much in agreement with the overall IMDB rating, but not in this case. Disclaimer: I only watched about 3/4ths of the film. Maybe that last quarter was amazing, but I felt I had suffered enough.
