It has been a long time since I've seen such a provocative, button-pushing piece of brilliant satire as this one. Reminded me of early Spike of course, but it more than holds its own. And it is damn funny. I haven't heard such great vocal reaction in a cinema for a long time too. If you are tired of listening to people say racism is over, go see this film! The actors and writing are all great, the satire sharp and pointed, the subject ripe for examination. Along with Black-ish, black is making a comeback on the screen. Humor is such a great way to diffuse ignorance, isn't it? See it, laugh, think, shake your head in disbelief and be grateful that people are still willing to push the envelope.

Well, who would have guess Hitch could hold his own with Howard Hawks? I've seen just about every Hitchock film he ever made but for some reason, Mr. and Mrs. Smith evaded my viewing. Well, I was shocked when I finally saw it. It is sheer perfection, with both Lombard and Montgomery at the peaks of their careers. An absolutely delight. Classic scenes of he said/she said comedy. Why the shot of Montgomery hitting himself with the salt shaker or Lombard stuck in the rain on an amusement park ride are worth the viewing alone. You would never know it was a Hitchcock flick. But it is the unseen gem of his masterful oeuvre. Highly recommend for any fans of Hitch or screwball comedy.

I saw Mix upon my trip to Budapest this winter. I must say that I was surprised after seeing the sexy poster that this film has feelings. It is a really a European character study done up with ravin' music and great style. It is an odd hybrid but it works. The movie features great acting all around, great ethnic hip-hop, great scenery and wonderful editing. The movie has a beat and it really grooves at times. Then its quiet and thoughtful and yes, even emotional. Its not what I expected but I found this fish out of water tale to be truly touching. I highly recommend it and hope it makes it to the States. The Lovy boys seem to really blend their American and Hungarian sensibilities into a unique and entertaining Mix. I want the soundtrack as soon as it comes out.
