Full disclosure : I'm a big Star Wars fan. I'm always happily welcoming what Disney is throwing at us, and then I judge. Unlike a lot of people, I didn't start to hate a show that I didn't even see and I don't judge just by seeing only 1 or 2 episodes. The Acolyte isn't a bad production. Good action sequences, well filmed, etc. I agree that it isn't perfect. Some story points or characters could have been more developed, but still, there a good "frame" to work on.
Star Wars fans are always complaining about new stuff : this looks like too much to the originals, this is too different. And in general, moviegoers seems to start complaining that there isn't enough new ideas in movies and it's just copy/paste.
Well, yes The Acolyte is Star Wars, but it is telling a different story. Nothing linked to the Skywalker saga (so far at least). Maybe we could appreciate that the writers and director tried to bring something new and different.
Even though it isn't the best series ever, I appreciated it and would have like a second season. I was intrigued by the end.
Maybe you didn't like the show, that's ok, but be honest, The Acolyte isn't completely trash, it doesn't deserve all the hate it gets.

While visually stunning, I didn't get what was really happening during this short film, maybe I'm too simple minded...?
Unless you study something very specific, don't watch that
