I watched this movie and found it entertaining and with some good action scenes. I liked specially the beginning and the end! The beginning gives you the complete feeling that you are watching a 007 movie with less tech gadgets and more x-treme sport scenes (roller blading, mountain bike cycling, skate boarding etc.) the rollerblade stunts are awesome!.The middle part becomes a little boring with too m much dialog in personal, professional and family life scenes stealing a lot of action from the movie. what makes it bearable are some comedy lines resembling the 'pink panther' good police humor. Towards the end the action increases along with the comedy, an this movie has an all American ending, where the bad guys get busted and the cops always win. Not a bad movie, the big down is that I was not able to find it in the English version, only french was available, I had to settle for the subtitles that in my wide screen TV do not show all the way (leaving out some part of the text). Perhaps some day it'll be dubbed to English for us to fully understand the characters...
I was very pleased with the simplicity of the film and the deep Mexican sentiment related to those times. Many Mexican songs relate to the play and add taste to the movie. The historic contents are very valuable for people not familiar with the Mexican revolutionary era. Gabriela (maria Felix) is a very decisive and strong willed women that does not forget her poor roots and will not give up until reaching her wealth. One thing to watch out for is the closed captioned English subtitles, they do not always resemble or closely match what is truly being said by the actors. The word "Cascala" mentioned numerous times should be "Tlaxcala"( a central Mexico's state). nevertheless an awesome movie. This classic from Mexican director Roberto Gavaldón is a harrowing drama about the Mexican Revolution. Based on the novel by Miguel N. Lira, LA ESCONDIDA is an unflinching look at the scope and consequences of that monumental conflict
A movie where the main character can be a law abiding citizen one minute and a very corrupt politician the next.
I was very impressed with the main character's versatile personality. A strugler that could mine gold from a barren place.
Even when the political view is the main point in the movie, there are other factors that dominate the events. Against many adversities this industrious character will find a way. Even if it means breaking his own promises. At the end the movie teach that survival is the esential part of life. Even for politicians, corrupts or not corrupts.
