Nobody wanted to see a movie about Superman that was redoing what had been done countless times before. Some iconic like the original and some awful like Superman Returns. A "modern" take on the hero is welcomed and expected to gain a new audience. I was hoping this would be so much better. I wanted to love this film. It's very creative and there is non stop action although Superman spends most of it getting his butt kicked and/or struggling to fight. His dog wins most of his battles. Corenswet is a good Superman. Most of the casting is real good and Nathan Fillian is as good as advertised. My issues are many and mostly just personal preferences of how I want my Superman movies to go. I'm not a comic book guy so I can't say much or complain about the direction they took. The casting is great and so is the dog.
This whole series is pretty good. How accurate it is we will never know. Clive Owen does an admirable job even though I only see baseball pitcher Jim Kaat the whole time he's on screen. Edie Falco is the probably. Yes she's a great actress but this episode was clearly a retelling of her yelling at Tony Soprano. It's what they knew would happen and didn't care. Their relationship is full of speculation and boy would I love to hear how much she knew and when and how much real power she had and still has. Moments like this are just not easily portrayed. In my opinion though as a registered Republican is that I can't really tell if there is a true political component to the production.
I rewatched this series. And after watching all of Yellowstone, 1923 and basically everything Taylor Sheridan ever did, this one stands out as the best. He really puts you in that time and place. You feel the cold and you fight back tears as there is so much death. Without a doubt to me, this is Sam Elliot's best work. How he received so little critical acclaim is beyond me. It is simply a 10 hr masterpiece that is a synopsis to all that ventured West in hope of a better life and finding their own place to call home and set down roots. Yes, it's all at the expense of who was there before but I think it's handled well.
