Smollett's character is horrible, just over acted. Not remotely realistic. Taron does a FANTASTIC job, seriously very impressed with this switch up in roles for him. I'd give it another star if it weren't for this. The show feels a little disconnected, too. A lot of side scenes, character building I guess? Kind of light on the actual arsonist stuff, given that is the basis of the show. Hoping everything gets going on the arson stuff and less with Smollett's family drama and overly aggressive character, when the scene really doesn't call for it. Just too much "I'm just one of the guys" laugh, laugh.

Slow paced, exceptionally filmed, atmospheric and beautiful. I loved being able to see all of the house, the different rooms, gardens etc. Too often these days I feel not enough attention is given to the setting, which if properly done, like this, can definitely increase the creepiness of a movie. The acting was great, story great, although not something new, but the ending was a bit anti-climatic, and completely predictable. The build was good, could've really rocked it with a great ending, but still very enjoyable. I appreciate a movie where attention is given to all aspects, not just the scary parts.

The last 1/4 is SUCH HORRIBLE RIDICULOUSNESS that it only gets a 1 star. The other reviewers weren't wrong, but I have to say I actually liked most of the movie. It was somewhat original, the acting wasn't great, but it was nowhere near as bad as many B horror movies. The house and surrounding area was extremely creepy and it really had the makings of something good, until ii didn't. Don't bother with this one, it's sadly a waste of time.
