Totally blown away by this episode. The writing, the acting, the entire narrative was so well done. The decision by The producers and writers to tell this story through the landlord's (Ruth) eyes was pure genius. Brilliantly portrayed by actress London Garcia, this episode of Gibbs evolution told thru flashbacks was compelling, deeply emotional and didn't miss a beat. The character Ruth played in a previous episode as the landlord was a standard 3 or 4 line supporting role, something that's easily forgotten. The decision to make a seemingly unknown character the focal point of this episode to act as Gibbs' angel or mentor was deeply emotional and showed Gibbs vulnerable side in a way that network television rarely rarely explores. Masterful writing and acting. Bravo.
With streaming platforms and studios screaming about 'content' , some sadly forget about the content of a wonderfully crafted and entertaining story. This one shines above many with bigger budgets and starpower. Expertly written and acted by Jennifer Sorensen, this film plays all the notes for two sisters finding themselves on an unexpected road trip, filled with strife, struggle, acceptance, healthy doses of humor , and an aversion to IPA brews . So many wonderful moments and heartfelt performances in this film! A reminder that we always need good stories and how we heal through storytelling.
