True Detective meets Cop Land. High praise indeed but unfortunately this entry leaves viewers less satisfied with more unanswered questions. Del Toro's protagonist manages to lead you through the pitfalls successfully enough though with his usual brooding charisma. As per usual he steals the show with another magnetic performance. Silverstone pleasantly delivers a sound supporting performance along with a rare appearance from the controversial yet underrated Michael Pitt. I found the casting of Timberlake a bit meh. His character is stoic and steady, yet vanilla and instantly forgettable. The film is average at best but I've seen a lot worse. It's a worthy and watchable addition to the genre all the same.
A weak story masked with distracting violent gore. An inept useless mob try to stop Michael going home for a nap while Laurie does nothing in a hospital. Disappointing, pointless sequel.
Too many boring, waffling monologues driving a flawed, poorly written story containing too many plot holes.
Utterly terrible TV. Mike Flanagan is the real vampire, sucking the life out of the genre. What a hack. Shame on you Netflix.
