Yeah I get the whole artsy stuff, leave the rest up to your imagination, blah blah blah. Truly an exciting start to what I thought was going to be an excellent film. The ending was so bad (and Idris really phoned this one in) that I'm not sure I've been this angry at the conclusion of any film I've ever seen.
I've laughed out loud more times watching the first three episodes of this show than I have watching any other show since East Bound & Down. Glen Powell's ability to transform from Russ Holliday into Chad Power's and back, is as impressive as it is funny. Great cast overall, incredibly funny show. Cannot wait until the next episode.
"Stick" tries to blend heart, humor, and the grind of competitive golf-but it stumbles hard if you know the sport. The entire setup hinges on a player getting serious financial backing to win the U. S. Amateur, even though those events don't pay and outside funding would violate amateur status. It's a fundamental misread of how the golf world works. Owen Wilson is funny as usual, but the show asks fans to overlook too much to stay invested. It's a baffling creative choice considering how easy it would've been to anchor the story in something more realistic-like Q-School or mini tours. A fine watch besides that, though.
