Overall its enjoyable, but people made remakes of this without Jar Jar for a reason. I actually think his character is so ridiculous that many kids probably didn't even like him. Furthermore, Star Wars was always a hit with kids without him so he was not needed. Whoever came up with him and his scripting was hopefully banished from the Industry, one of the worst characters ever conceived.

There are other problems too, and as much as I adore Portman her acting in EPs 1 & 2 was not very good sad to say. I think overall the scripting lies at the main fault here and actors did the best they could with some rubbish lines.

On the positive side is just about everything else, and the Pod racing is especially fantastic and one of my favourite scenes from any Star Wars movie. Darth maul was also an excellent addition and as many mention a shame we did not see more of him and less of Jar Jar.... This might even deserve a 5 but alas I am fond of Star Wars and I still do enjoy watching it every few years.

Script/Screenplay 2.5/4, Acting 1.5/3, Personal enjoyment 2/3 -> 6/10.

Title mostly sums it up and it seems most agree. Its an engrossing movie that is hard to look away from but it gets slightly spoiled by some weak script spots.

The acting was really good by both leads, I could go on about it but don't see the point, they were really good is all that needs to be known

The script on the other hand, while it started really strong, degraded as the movie went on right into the ending. The story itself is fine, definitely don't watch it if you are squeemish though or don't like 'sick' type topics. The issue is mostly just the moments where someone had obvious actions they could have taken and didn't, or did something that really wasn't possible. I also think editing is just a touch weak, there were a few spots where a min or 2 could have been cut out as certain scenes were just a bit too long.

Overall mostly everything came together well, the issues are fairly minor & don't detract too much and its still a good watch if it fits your preferences. Its just a shame because the actors really nailed their roles and directing was spot on too, should have been an easy 8/10. 6.5/10.
