  • True Facts Delivered In Superb Fashion

Honestly, if not for the subject matter this film would be up for all kinds of honors come award season. The performances are superb.

The story itself is moving and powerful. Anyone that views this movie with an open mind and anyone that is at all intelligent will be moved. It's an eloquent case for life and for defending the innocent among us.

  • Yeah, real fans HATE this waste of film

I'm sorry but this character is simply awful. A one dimensional Mary Sue with all the charm of an old shoe. Brie Larson is horribly miscast and politics take center stage over actual entertainment. If this is truly the future direction of the MCU then I weep for the ending of the greatest era in studio history. It was a great run that apparently is coming to an end so as to virtue signal. That won't be pretty. Mark my words, a sequel will not do well at the box office. Word of mouth is rightfully harsh on this one.

  • Tolkien himself deserved better. Very "meh"

For an independent level film in which the main message is that art is transcendent, it's ironic that the plot itself could have used more creative license. Meaning, the movie itself delivers absolutely no flare and very little imagination. It's mundane with mundane performances. The subject, Tolkien himself, deserved better. We see very little of the creative ties to his actual LOTR/Hobbit work. We see next to nothing of his faith based foundation. What we do see is a cut and often dry presentation of his education and his school chum inner circle. They even made time jumps and WWI action seem rather dull. Most of the time is spent with Tolkien dazed or lying in a giant puddle as we flashback through his school days and meet his true love. Not awful but at the end of the day rather "blah".
