I didn't grow up watching "Saturday Night Live", and even to this day, I've never sat down and watched a full episode. I've seen snippets here and there on social media and they make me laugh, but having never watched a full segment, perhaps this film is lost on me.
I'm all for nostalgia, and I can laugh at something even if I don't get the context behind the subject matter because it's about delivery. Unfortunately, this films delivery isn't up my alley. It feels like a jumble of shenanigans, which it is, but those shenanigans never go anywhere useful. It's hard to get a genuine laugh in when there's so much chaos going on. You have so many good actors, but they feel like a rotunda of cardboard cutouts that are itching for laugh and all that can be conjured up is a snorty chuckle. The only time there's a sense of funny and they made it, is in the final two minutes of the film, but by then it's too late.
Overall, I don't feel like I wasted my time completely because I watched it at home. If I saw it in theatres I probably would've rated it worse as this was definitely not worthy of a theatrical release. Of course I won't completely knock this film as there were genuine parts, but they few and far between. Perhaps the big thing I didn't mention above is that the filming wasn't clean like some movies are when they portray the past like "Air". This movie makes you feel like you're living in the '70s with a grainy picture. So that I'll give a thumbs up to. In the end some may find this movie better than I did, but a 6/10 isn't a terrible score to get.
That's it for now. Thanks for taking time to read my review. Happy watching and enjoy the show!

There's not a lot to this movie, but it's enjoyable. It's a little weirder than I expected, but that was the only way for them to really make it interesting. It wasn't so much the concept of the game within the movie that was interesting for me, but rather the inner journey that Jake Johnson's character had to take to find himself. The movie itself isn't overly funny, but it has its moments where you get a chuckle, so I wouldn't really call this a comedy. That being said, I kind of expected a bit more funny especially with Andy Samberg in it. Anna Kendrick is enjoyable as well she brings her moment of light to the film. Overall, it was a decent movie. It has a good runtime, but even being 91 minutes long it edges on being too long. I like the cast as they're semi-funny. I would consider watching this one again, but I wouldn't be begging to see it again.

I don't normally look for emotional intelligence in actors or actresses, but ever since watching McKenna Grace in "Young Sheldon" and now "Gifted", I can't help but notice how mature she was at a young age. It seems every role she does is beyond her years. So either she very good at acting or she's genuinely a genius. Either way she does phenomenal in this film alongside Chris Evans. They fit like two peas in a pod. Their chemistry is genuine and down to earth and you can't help but for the best for both of them. Octavia Spencer is a balance in the mix as a voice of reason even though she's not shown very often.
The story itself is enjoyable, but not entirely relatable in some ways like having an intelligent kid who is gifted, but it is relatable other ways where there's someone entrusted to be the guardian of a kid who isn't theirs, and there are people out to get them even if it's not best for the child. Because of that chemistry I spoke out earlier you can't help but hope for the best outcome in the end. But until you watch all the way through you may have to shed some tears along the way.
Overall, it's a fantastic movie. I'd chock it down as a family movie. There's a range of emotions that you'll feel if you can feel the chemistry behind the acting. Everyone feels genuine in their roles. I liked this movie so much, I would definitely watch it again.
