Diabolical James Bond-ish script by Tony Barrett, who we lost too soon. He also wrote for HONEY WEST, senior writer for MOD SQUAD. Can't keep a good writer down.
Secret agent Amost Burke jets out to London (though filmed on the CBS Studio City backlot).
Mission; Nail maniacal Alexander Szabo, played by David Sheiner, at his camp best. Szabo has developed a truth serum that makes his victim spill the beans. Perfect medicine for government agents carrying top secret information. More over, the villain of the hour cleverly covers his tracks due to the fact the serum forces its user to commit suicide -- via some ghoulish ways. Could go as far as to make this a cross between Sherlock Holmes (beset with poisoners) and James Bond, Sheiner playing an insaniac to remember.
Scene stealer is beautiful Dyan Cannon, who at the time was about to make international headlines and marry Cary Grant. Dyan plays Francesca, Szabo's ex-wife who has some interesting scenes with Amos, or make that Gene Barry. Versatile character actor Bernard Fox (BEWITCHED) plays Drummond in a fine dramatic role. Look for director James Frawley playing Lucien, an early acting credit for him.
Another adventurous final season entry, unfortunately the series saddled with low ratings. Now better in reruns. SEASON 3 EPISODE 9 remastered for tv. Only season one is on dvd. Check Amazon for updates. Thanks METV for bringing Amos back.

***Remastered, by popular demand, the entire series on dvd in a single box. 4 discs. Released 2008. Best ever color cover.
The definitive Honey and Sam episode, Anne Francis and John Ericson (who passed in 2020) make this one rock. Some crafty crooks steal Sam's van, containing gowns worth over $100,000 dollars. No mistake, because these guys knew exactly what they were doing.
Our heroes have to work -- and FIGHT -- together. They most do. There's two campy scenes in this episode, a must see; Honey and Sam going undercover, posing as beatnicks (and looking sharp at that), plus a dynamite judo fight with the thieves at a clothing factory. It's close -- but Honey almost gets her "head" caught in a steam iron.
Excellent role for James B. Sikking (HILL STREET BLUES) as Valentine. He passed in 2024. Famous 60s model Charlene Holt plays Gloria.
Look for old timer Marjorie Bennett (OCEANS 11) as Ma.
Co-star Irene Hervey (Aunt Meg) has some witty lines, as usual.
Yes, Anne Francis looks like a million, dressed to impress in the final scene. Credit costume designer Nolan Miller, famous for DYNASTY.
SEASON 1 EPISODE 11 remastered dvd box set. Thanks METV for bringing Honey out of retirement.

I'd bet Arthur Weiss, who earlier in his career wrote for SEA HUNT, dusted off an old script or outline for this show.
One more thing -- should you be a film buff. Good chance he borrowed the title from the classic 1955 Jane Russell underwater adventure, dealing with sunken treasure.
Camp entertainment, for a change of pace. Jeremy Slate (ONE LIFE TO LIVE) plays a jewel thief named Hoffman who kills a courier carrying millions in diamonds, dumping his body (with the gems and an anchor) in the ocean. The boat explodes and he cleverly plans to retrieve the diamonds, putting one over on his boss, Ballinger (marvelously played by Fritz Weaver).
Ballinger ain't no fool, capturing and torturing Hoffman as to what happened... Where the M. I. team enters the picture, now using Casey as the beautiful pawn, in the tradition of Barbara Bain. She happens to have a diamond ring -- similar in composition to the missing jewels. Outstanding way to "bait" greedy Ballinger and fake him out. No better actor to play the villain than Fritz Weaver, fondly remembered for all his cut-throat portrayals in this series. We kids loved him.
Question; Was Arthur Weiss inspired by Frank Sinatra's famous film, LADY IN CEMENT, released a few years before this episode? Both bodies anchored in the ocean?
One for the M. I. books. SEASON 6 EPISODE 8 Paramount dvd box set. The entire series on dvd in a single impressive box. 47 discs. Thanks METV for the memories.
