  • Needed this!

    Real.

    Wholesome.

    Gritty.

    Subverting expectations.

    Layered.

    Dark.

    Funny.

    Hopeful!

Haven't watched a movie like this in years!

    Maybe even decades.

    A true joy to watch.

Narrative and character building/development were superb and made excellent use of the 2 hours it had.

The setting and cinematography complemented one another in a way that rarely happens in cinema.

Alexander Payne did an excellent job directing it.

Selection of songs hut every right chord.

A unique movie that has left me wanting to rewatch all the other wonderful movie it emulated and from the period is captured amazingly.

    Must watch!

  • Worth the watch

    Surprisingly good.

Builds on old good horror tropes while turning the monster-cometh-at-night sub-genre on its head.

Acting, directing, cinematography are superb. Keeping you in the dark througout, and leaving you in a 'darker' place still at the very end.

Have not been to the watch a movie in the theater in a while now but this was definitely worth it.

Would warn against watching it if you have dark thoughts though, as it really strikes a nerve and because the movie is done well it strikes it well.

If you have the chance to see it please share any ideas if any. As I am left with a lot to think of leaving the cinema.

  • A relentlessly good movie

One of the best movies I have seen in the last 5 years. An emotional rollercoaster.

It is painfully and relentlessly good. The all-star cast was surprisignly amazing and did a wonderful job. They acted as if they understood that the movie is not about them, but rather about life itself.

Dan Fogleman the writer and director, hit every beat of this realistic saga masterfully. I believe this movie is his masterpiece.

One of my best 20 movies of all time, and is a nice representation of how life itself is also relentlessly painful and good.

What is also nice is that I wanted to rewatch it as soon as it was done.
