In development since 2016. Early access in 2020 and then full release in 2023. Finally, it's 2024 and despite a year of nonstop updates, Baldur's Gate 3 is still not a stable game. The game's technical infrastructure is still horrible, with long tedious loading screens followed by slow loading of textures and random FPS drops and stutters. If you've played Larian's other games, you can see that the graphics are similar to the Divinity Original Sin series released in 2014-2018 because it uses the same engine, but it's supposedly an improved version. However, Baldur's Gate 3 is almost graphically no different from Divinity Original Sin 2. Except that the character animations are more detailed. Also there is no massive open world but the game still does not play smoothly even with the recommended system requirements. FSR 2.2 is so useless. No matter what graphics setting you use, the game is feel incredibly laggy. They could at least add FSR 3.1 and Frame Generation features but Larian don't bother with that either. If you do some research on the game, you'll find hundreds of optimization related complaints, mostly from users at the time of its first full release, but the developers didn't pay much attention to them, and they couldn't come to terms with the fact that they couldn't optimize Baldur's Gate 3. Despite all these negativities you won't find another game with so much credit from the playerbase for such terrible development process. It will definitely always remain for me as one of the most overrated games. Optimization is the core of a game, and this is a game that can't even rise above mediocre. There are other things to talk about, but frankly I don't care if other players change their minds about whether or not to play this game, but the character creation screen is terrible. You have no customization options other than a few pre-set faces. The hair and beards look extremely boring and simple. Larian also showed no interest in improving the character creation section. It still looks the same as it did when it went into early access in 2020.
It's just so awful. There are 6 different games collected in one version, but all of them are equally bland in gameplay and story. Throughout all the games you fight in similar areas against only two different enemy types. Sometimes there are cinematics, but without them you wouldn't even know if there was a story. You also have to control one of the most boring stereotypical main characters you've ever seen. On the other hand, the games do nothing to inform the player about Halo's lore, nor do they make any effort to capture their attention. Whether you play the games in order of release date or in chronological order, you have no idea what's going on. I have a hard time understanding how the Halo franchise has remained popular for so many years. These games have dated gameplay that is way behind the times, even for the year they were first released. If you are not interested in the online aspect, there is no reason to buy this version. Aside from the boring single-player gameplay, it takes up 120 GB of space on PC. Not only is it not worth buying, it's not even worth the space it takes up. The Halo series should be relegated to the dusty shelves of history like the Xbox 360, the platform on which they were developed. If you're looking for a real space themed adventure, try the Mass Effect trilogy, and if you're really curious about the Halo series, watch the TV series and animations instead of playing the games.
Dragon Age is one of my favorite game series. It's also one of my favorite fantasy universes, but I had a hard time watching this animated adaptation despite all my interest. I know so much about this universe that there is so much material that could have been made into a series, but they chose to make an adaptation in the most boring and bland way possible, and the only thing that sticks in my mind about the story and characters of Dragon Age Absolution is that they try to project their sexual orientation to the audience as if they are putting on such a show. In the games, we can choose who our character can have relationships with and there are a lot of different characters with different orientations, but it bothered me in the animated series. Instead of trying to present an interesting plot, it's just trying to give a message that nobody cares about or is interested in.
