I can see why Cavill no longer wishes to play Geralt. The main approach of the books is that Geralt is always in his own head philosophizing about things. This show seems to have him almost as a side character only there to be brooding and to make monster kills. Kills that do not stick to the lore I might add: His choice of two swords is not staying correct for killing with silver, for example. There is a lot missing for a show like this.
The writing is steadily going downhill, the story is being slow rolled at parts and character development is lacking. The true story is being lost. I started with this show being an 8 and now I think it is a 6 making my rating currently a 7. This represents being worth watching for me but only just barely.
If the course continues this way and the writing still sucks when Hemsworth replaces Cavill in season 4, I'll stop bothering to watch this show.

Just happened to watch this because I like sci-fi and thought I'd give it a try. I'm glad I did because it was surprisingly good. The story evolves from talk of comets to them realizing things are not as they seem because of the one over their heads.
The ending was really great too with a fascinating (but still slight cliff hanger) thought of "what really happened?"
The acting was decent, the lines were not cheesy and it is actually a solid 8 for being a budge film without any real special effects necessary. Just know that this is a largely dialogue sci-fi drama.
I can say that there is one thing that threw me off a little which is the camera work, particularly at certain points. The shaky hand held (non-stabilized) gorilla film style doesn't sit well with me and at times can be a little dizzying.
Overall, watch it you won't be disappointed.

The movie might have been okay except we couldn't hear over the music. Particularly near the end it was impossible to hear what any character was saying. It was a silly movie for sure but there is no way that a sound person should completely ruin a movie like this. When you watch it until the end and then it gets really bad it actually makes you mad that you wasted your time watching the first part. It was almost to the point that it must have been sabotage by the sound person or complete incompetence. Either way don't bother wasting your time with this movie, it sucks. Overacting and silly lines are often forgivable with a lower budget movie but the sound made it completely unwatchable. Keep in mind I cannot give it a zero or I would.
