  • Superbly acted

At the age of 23 i can remember when Robert Maxwell died, this TV film does a great job of explaining some of the mystery behind the man, David Suchet is superb as the control Freak that is Captain Bob.

Anyone who likes the Wallstreet "greed is good" type will enjoy this, but spare a thought for the people who lost pensions, and a good quality of life in their old age. Cant wait for the DVD!

The tenacity of the man is quite superb in terms of business, but also a sense of a man craving someone to love him (which is apparently quite an apt observation from what I've read about him). The way in which people around him never seem to be able to truly work out what he is going to do is truly the sign of a mans true power. Pension stuff aside is he really worse than Rupert Murdoch (Maxwells great enemy)?
Rory McGrath in Commercial Breakdown (1989)

    Commercial Breakdown

  • A superb portrayal

This will surely stand as R. McGraths professional apogee, the culmination of writers, directors, producers and "best (insert thinly veiled homophobic remark here) boys", truly combine to create an awe inspiring piece.

Rumours that the humorous works of Shakespeare were the basis of many of this hit shows classic lines still remain unfounded, when will the truth be known?

The show hits so many spots so well, the "commercial" aspects are obvious, bring together a collection of humorous TV commercials from around the globe, and combine them with an aspect of "breakdown" where the presenter (in this case McGrath) breaks down the deeply layered components is a truly awe inspiring televisual experience. I don't think I shall ever be able to cry as I did watching this programme, partly because I have blocked tear ducts, but also because I was so moved.

Why no BAFTA? Surely 89 was rigged!

In all honesty however this is still better than the utter total tripe that Jon (No 'H') Culshaw spouted out during his stint on the programme.
