The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (2005)
Look out for these cameo's if you decide to watch this poor remake
I have read the books, played the on-line game and watched the old TV series. I was quite looking forward to seeing the movie but as I started to see the previews I began to realize that all they had done was make a very close copy of the old TV series, replacing the dated special effects with new ones.
I decided to cross my fingers and watch the movie anyway, and not to my surprise, I wasn't impressed. I would recommend that you watch the old TV series on DVD instead.
If you do decide to see this movie, rent it from BlockBuster or borrow it from a friend. Don't waste your money on it.
Here are a few things that I noticed in the movie:
1) Zaphod Beeblebrox appears to be imitating George Bush. 2) The robot from the TV series plays a cameo roll, lining up to submit some forms to the vogons. 3) The original Arthur Dent from the TV series plays a cameo roll when he appears as the holographic recording for messaging system for a planet. 4) Douglas Adams's face is displayed for about 1 second near the end of the movie when the ship heads for the restaurant at the end of the universe.
Pauly Shore Is Dead (2003)
How Ironic
This movie portrays Pauly attempting to revive his dead career. The irony is that if this movie were actually any good, it probably would revive his career. Unfortunately for Pauly thats not the case. It's terribly boring and full of bad acting. I applaud Pauly for recognizing why his career failed but wish he had just accepted the fact that he can't act and just chosen an alternative path to potential success.
Don't be fooled by the all-star cast of this movie. That's just a stunt to lure as many poor victims into viewing this piece of lard as possible. I imagine most of the cast signed up out of pity.
Pauly, Give up now! Go find a new career! Maybe serving at McDonalds? You MIGHT do well at that!
