I thought the era of dumb heroes in series that are supposed to be serious was over... It's a very old script to see a heroine who sees red light after red light and still doesn't stop.
I understand the writers' need to create drama, but a childish heroine who only does stupid things has never been a quality dramatic mechanism, and certainly not at a time when television work everywhere else has taken a step up.
It's the same in other series with similar conceptual elements - the heroine has some attitude that belies her stubborn behavior - but in this case, she's just a stupid girl who can't even look one step ahead.
In the real world, if she weren't such a pretty girl, those around her wouldn't put up with all the nonsense she does, at least in that the screenwriters did get it right.
I'm pleasantly surprised, because the British know how to make great television! It's a shame it doesn't really work here.
