  • Would give Norton a firm 10

Just came back from the theatre this evening and and felt a bit deflated.

Timmy just didn't live up to the expectation.

His detached, semi broody sort of 'sexy timing' thing is alright I guess, for portaying an a#hole, but not at all the qualities I'd want to depict a complex and rounded human being and artist as I imagine Dylan is.

Thank god for every time Edward Norton appeared on screen. Almost like someone shook me up to pay attention to the movie. Mr Norton was able to make it interesting somehow, but I saw a lot of other talented actors just falling through the cracks of this thin story.

Because it just missed a substantial story. That's the real flaw.

I know the songs. Yes they are great. But I hoped for a little more to get my teeth in.

Left the theatre feeling like I saw 'the best off', without really getting any wiser.

And that T. C. needs to get a little more life experience.

  • What a treat!

Watched it in one go and was broken hearted to find out there will not be a second season.

It's weird I had to accidentally stumble upon this, because with such an amazing cast, well written story and intelligence and depth that I've been craving for for years, it should have been given far more attention then it got.

Only downside for me is the dialogue between the Argentinian mother and daughter. Where there different writers involved in these parts? I know, it's scifi, so it's bound to contain weird stuff. All the more important the characters react at least a little shocked when the weirdness occurs. This was absolutely no issue in the 'Illinois' parts, but the Argentinian parts, though beautifully filmed, felt slightly silly.

This small dissonance aside, I really loved watching this.

  • Gorgeous, untill..

..they asked the drunk person on set to hold the camera.

This is one of the best series I've seen this year.

The story is well told with an amazing cast and great acting. The complexity of the issue is handled with great respect.

A real treat.. I watched the first four episodes with care and respect because the makers obviously made it with the same mindset.

For me there was also a big sigh of relief because, one or two short moments aside, finally, FINALLY we got a director who didn't yank me straight out of the movie, leaving me with sickness and a headache, by using the corny documentary style camera work we are constantly fed the last decade.

Untill this episode. It is drenched in it.

I think the story is still good. Or let me rephrase, I presume it is.. I just wasn't able to watch it anymore. I feel betrayed and so very sorry for the actors who work their asses off to give us a great perfomance, only to be ruined by the horrors of the shaky camera.

So 6 for this one. No more 9.
