I Am Not a Serial Killer (2016)
Masterpiece
A meticulously crafted, insanely conscious masterpiece that will cut deep into your soul and stay with you. The acting is more than spot on, the suspense and tension is level 1000, the interestingness factor of the whole thing is just magnetic. This movie is on my list of all-time favourites. Love the characters, love the set-up, the town, the winter, so moody and atmospheric. There's an intriguing element of strangeness, captivating, and also an element of unexpected beauty. This is a weird, strange movie, and I promise any person who loves quality horror with depth, will love it. I plan to watch again. I must also mention the music. Unmatched work by the people who selected it. Adds a whole new layer to the entire work of art.
Evil Dead Rise (2023)
Pleased with this movie
I think I got more and better than what i was expecting. I do not think this movie was scary, it was entertaining (I'm thoroughly desensitised to horror movies though and not easily scared anymore). Suffice to say, that you will get your dose of blood dunk and also some twisted psychology about parent-child relations. The acting was remarkable though. And I think Alyssa Sutherland is the most formidably beautiful woman who ever walked the earth, so she was a way too interesting choice for this movie, but a fun choice too.
Many people noted something was missing and I believe that some of us viewers might feel that way because we are desensitised. Stuff that was scary 20 years ago is not scary anymore.
X (2022)
This is how you make a movie
To all the time waster and money burning filmmakers out there get yourself together because this is how you make a movie. What an absolutely delightfully complex, shocking and funny piece of art, there are so many messages on so many levels, so many symbols, meta stuff and everything just hits. A smashing masterpiece. Love Mia Goth, what a genius of an actress.
I did not expect any depth evolving in a slasher movie though or any complexity and very serious emotions but there they were. This is NOT an easy movie. Be prepared for the challenge on mental, physical and emotional levels too if you watch this.
Ti West however i had a very difficult time to forgive you THAT bit and you know Ti what i mean. You're brilliant but i did call you ugly names after that part. Tee hee.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
Spoilers ahead
The deep hate for men in general completely pierces through this movie. There is an interesting setup and the director managed to make you feel that definitely something dark is lurking behind the scenes but after the first 45 minutes you realise that all of this cinematography, all of the glamour of this production was put together because Olivia Wilde just wanted to again and again show you just how deep and cold her hatred is towards all men. This is not my imagination, one of the characters actually pronounces out loudly this despise at one point. This could have been a really good movie without the manhater stuff. But you got to fit in the Hollywood mould and Olivia does. On a sidenote i truly am amazed at how can any sane man hang out with Olivia Wilde because it is so obvious that she hates all men. Like, all.
Monsters (2022)
It is like suspense except you know it's true
Nothing short of a masterpiece, feels like watching an exceptional documentary. This gives off similar vibes to the Chernobyl miniseries by being so detailed and moody. I cannot say anything negative about this one and definitely don't listen to any haters because this a true gem in the world of true crime. Ryan Murphy is a genius. The acting is remarkable. The directing is spotless. I of course was looking forward to this series but it surpassed my expectations. A sensitive and delicate approach to this heavy character and his dreadful story. This is not in any way exploitation, it is a thriller, drama, true crime biopic kind of thing, very smart and builds masterfully.
Pahanhautoja (2022)
Relatable psychological body horror
A true gem of its kind and even more. This horror movie overlaps the psychological, mystery and drama genres sets. The levels of meaning unfold in a very picturesque and tangible way and the strong messages hit and come through so powerfully. At the same time this is a very exciting movie and draws the viewer in. The personality profiles are built in an exceptionally professional way. There is not a wasted second here and there is nothing that could be cut out as this is a timeless masterpiece where every single moment matters and there is WAY more than meets the eye - almost an interactive feeling. I have no idea why there are such few films of this high level and remarkable standards. The actors are incredible, especially the main character girl. Loved and enjoyed every moment of this really tough, intelligent and artistically perfect and brilliant movie. Horror craft at its VERY BEST.
Prey (2022)
Maximally utilised idea
They have twisted this thing just in a perfect way, used just the right amount of cgi, the idea of where and when this all plays out is total genius. Congratulations to the makers!
A very worthy and remarkable sci-fi-horror-adventure movie, totally recommended. Watch it, you won't regret.
Blasted: Gutta vs Aliens (2022)
very funny, stylish and silly! 4.8 is SO underrated.
What an amazingly hilarious, sweet and stylish sci fi comedy, made in the style of the 80s sci-fis which we enjoyed so much as kids. Full of strong characters and very silly and laughable discussions also there is no politics involved at all which is a rarity these days especially when it comes to Netflix powered movies. I almost missed this due to the low points and happy i did watch, though should have spared this for a Friday haha!
Long Story Short (2021)
it would have been a great movie if...
It would have been a great movie if it did not contain non family friendly content. I definitely do not recommend to watch this for a child or with a child.
Otherwise it is a sweet and cute story and good to watch with your loved one but for adults only.
Spiderhead (2022)
Smart and worthy movie
Sensationally smart movie, so many questions raised, very thought provoking, intelligent and the acting is fabulous too.
If you enjoyed 1984 and A Clockwork Orange this is a must see too. Don't listen to the bots that downvoted this.
Don't Breathe 2 (2021)
Underrated
This is great suspense with heavy characters and spotless acting/directing. Did not expect that from a horror. Gives you more than you would think, better than the first one. *applause*
Dystopia (2021)
Extremely boring, avoid at all costs
This is a waste of time, avoid at all costs. Extremely boring, painful to watch. It seems there was no money for this series to have an actual storyline and serious effects. Not to mention the lesbian soft p*rn that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the story and since this was in the horror category it is the least to say that it is nothing that i expected. I recommend you go and watch the 2020 amazon series Utopia instead, that is a masterfully created work of art, totally underrated and not spoken about (well not here in the UK where i live).
No idea how on earth this series got a currently 7* + rating here but don't listen to anyone who rated this high. Piece of s.
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
Watch this!
If after reading what is this all about you are interested but wondering because of the low score (5.5 at this point) if you should watch it dont hesitate! Dont let negative critics influence you, this is a crazy, sick, wonderful flick that offers way more than face value if you pay attention. People who say Nicholas Cage is in a downward spiral are laughable and ridiculous, hes appearing in some REAL movies these days and shows some acting that you want to applause even though youre at home in front of your tv. This is one of my all time favourites now, bloody brilliant!
The Thing (1982)
Exceptional
What an absolute masterpiece, have seen it many times and will never be bored with it. Fantastic script, dramatisation, acting, visuals, tension, very-very atmospheric - all you need in a good horror/sci-fi movie and I'd say a lot more. If you have not seen it yet I promise this will be one of your favourite movies ever, despite the fact that it was made in 1982! A terrific classic horror gem.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Perfectly boring
If you expect a great gothic ghost story like The Haunting of Hill House, then dont watch. This is not a good wee gothic horror story. Its an unbearably boring ghost love story sort of thing. I was mislead and can only regret that Ive wasted my time on this dull cr*p. I do not recommend this to anyone, except for if they like to have the hell bored out of them or want to fall asleep in front of the... device. If you want a good ghost love story why not go and watch The Ghost movie with Patrick Swayze.
