  • Surprisingly Heartfelt, Funny, Irish Film

I saw this film in the cinema back when it was out last year and felt compelled to write a little review for it since it's something I've begun enjoying to do here on IMDB.

I had seen two of the actors on a talk show we have here in Ireland and thought I would check it out given the clips shown were funny and I enjoyed both of them as talk show guests.

I hadn't a lot of expectation going in as I'm not necessarily a hurling fan but I do enjoy it and other sports but I was extremely pleasantly surprised by how much I was hooked into the story.

The acting was fantastic, not surprising considering it contains some Irish greats like Jon Kenny. The seasoned Irish comedians like David McSavage and Mario Rosenstock were brilliant in their cameos and Karl Spain stole the show as the Garda any time he turned up.

This was brilliantly put together considering it was independently made on a small budget and I was really taken by how heartfelt it was given that it is a comedy about an Irish sport. It really should've been marketed as a rom-com as that's how I watched it and enjoyed it as.

Given how it was put together with such an effort and to get released in the cinema and everything defo 10/10

Going to watch it again on Prime Video now that I know its out there.

  • Season 8 So Poor It Brings Down Entire Series

My God how I loved Game of Thrones. I was fully hooked, the theme song gave me goosebumps every time. The fact that no character ever felt safe, the fact you knew anybody could go at any time was so refreshing for a TV show. To a lesser extent we had that in the Sopranos but they seemed to always save big deaths for the second to last episode in all the seasons.

I had never read any of the books I'm more of a non fiction reader but that didn't matter. I arrived as a watcher of this show very late in the run it may have already been on season 7 as I began to binge but when I say it hooked me, it hooked me.

Season 8 however left such a bad taste in my mouth I can never watch it again. Knowing that none of the ideas planted throughout will ever pay off in the end. Even writing about it now has destroyed me. I don't know why I've done this.

If the final season had even tried to pay off the things that were set up throughout this would still be at least a 9/10 but likely 10/10 series but because of how bad that final season was....

  • Breaking my review cherry for this GOAT show

Maybe the best television show I've ever seen. I was a huge Peep Show fan and I also love the movies of Will Farrell and Adam McKay so this was not what I was expecting heading in. I don't think there's even a "maybe". It's the greatest TV show of all time for me.

The depth of the characters, the humour to balance out the darkness of it, biting satire, heartbreaking drama. Loved it.

Tom is maybe my favourite character in anything I've ever watch too. Definitely in a drama.

Ken is such a tragic figure right from the off.

    Shiv, just incredible.

And who knew Fuller from Home Alone could make you feel so much?

And of course Brian Cox. A killer of an actor.

OK I'm off to rewatch it all again.

    11/10.
