Honestly, my expectations were low with the title but after I read professional critics' reviews, I said why not? Channing Tatum was surprisingly serious but also funny in this dark comedy-drama. Based on a true story, he plays Jeffrey Manchester, father and husband of a failed marriage because he also happens to be a likeable liar, an armed robber, and a prison escapee who uses rooftops to perpetrate his crimes. Is that all? So, Jeff needs a hideout since he is now wanted by Charlotte PD. What better place than a Toys 'R Us where he makes himself at home and takes a liking to one of the employees he's watching on the security cameras played warmly by Kirsten Dunst. Romance? Directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine), this movie has something for everyone including a naked Channing running through the store when he's discovered by the store manager.... HIGHLY recommended!
Just finished watching this 8-parter on Peacock depicting the serial killer, John Wayne Gacy, played quite convincingly by Michael Chernus. The actor dissolves into an extremely difficult role and shows the likeable, dangerous, violent, and psycho-schizoid monster who killed over 30 teenage boys in gruesome fashion befriending them to work for him or cruising them and then murdering them. The signature clown laugh reveals another dimension to who Gacy was. Filmed in Toronto, the series supports a strong Canadian/American cast. Painful to watch at times toward the end depicting how he lured those he killed and buried under his house. But it is not for the faint of heart and the finale was a bit rushed. I would still HIGHLY RECOMMEND it if you like a crime thriller....and would watch again!
Maya Lucas is in the hospital recovering from her injuries after Ryan dies and The Strangers in Venus at Carol's Diner hear about it and go on the rampage again! But Maya isn't lying in bed waiting for them to finish her off. Madelaine Petsch has a lot physically to do in this role and she does not disappoint. The rest of the cast follow her lead. And we get some snippets of the backstory of who The Strangers were as kids at the religious school they attended. Not sure why the negative reviews here but to each their own. For a horror slasher flick, it had some pretty good action scenes. Bring on Chapter 3 and what happens to Maya and The Strangers to finish the sandwich. I would definitely watch again. Definitely recommended if you like horror slasher flicks!
