Vikram (2022)
Vikram
One of the best films that I watched! It was an exhilarating experience. Enthralled by Director Lokesh's visionary execution that offers a glimpse intk his own cinematic universe, Anirudh's BGM & the brilliant acting prowess of Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Setupathi and Suriya Sivakumar, the film portrays a dicredited and almost mythical ex black ops specialist trying to solve the murder of his son, in the backdrop of Drug menace - a tale in which another black ops specialist in his prime & a family loving pablo escobaresque drug kingpin get somehow involved.
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
The best film that I Watched so far! G.O.A.T
Watched the film on Monday, 28th of March, 2022 at my hometown. The crafty, creative carver that SS Rajamouli is, armed with trusted lieutenants, takes his time and never fails to impress. RRR is not just a mass entertainer, but suffice to say that in depressing times, it remains one of the few positive points to feel proud as a Telugu guy and a film fan. The grandiose visual spectacle, the cinematography and the taking, the slow build-up backed by adrenaline pumping music, the Ramayana epic theme - all hallmarks of the director are extremely impressive. Ram Charan and Jr NTR stand out in their respective defining roles - iconic, flawless. The ensemble cast also dished out their best. A jam-packed theatre on a week day with crying babies, shouting fans and deeply immersed audience - for once it harked back to pre-covid times. I'd certainly watch the film again!
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)
Worth a Watch....Tom Cruise delivers yet again....
By now, the films of Mission Impossible franchise have a rather similar template. Against great odds, the man of the moment, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) delivers, thriving in impossible situations.
Overall, the film is worth a watch. Tom Cruise does it again. Kudos to the man, he sets the limit too high even by his standards. No doubt, his legion of loyal fans, and especially those in India, will forever be impressed. And the performances of Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Pegg add a chilly charm and deserved weight for the film. The former is superb and acts as a perfect match for Ethan Hunt! Oh, Sean Harris as the head of the Syndicate is Cool!
So, I had a very good time watching this flick. Right from the word start, it pumps up the adrenaline and generates a fast paced action, that surely is what we call "Paisa-Vasool" in India! Thus the franchise delivers again, and does good in satisfying the unquenching thirst of it's fans.
But, unknowingly and involuntarily, comparisons come to the fore, and it is not the best film of the franchise!
Srimanthudu (2015)
A Simple Yet Inspiring Film...
In the context of brain drain and rather dismal state of India's villages, it is no wonder that this film, although a commercial one is a hidden appeal to people, especially the wealthy, to "Return to Roots".
Overall, watching the film is a good experience. The director's job was fairly good. The music was enjoyable. And yet again, Mahesh Babu steals the show with his trademark performance peppered by witty remarks and silent demeanor. Shruti Hassan is only getting better with every film. She pulled off terrific and the chemistry between the lead pair is good. However, the veterans Jagapathi Babu as a caring yet indifferent father and Dr.Rajendra Prasad as the benevolent village head have added more grace to the film.
On the positive side, it is a treat for Mahesh's fans. The emotional connect the film offers is also great! But, the story does seem to drag a bit.
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
Redefining Standards But Yet..
It is fairly hard to imagine how or why I waited so long to watch this film. By now, it maybe reviweved so many times by so many people.
The film is an outright magnum opus, a visual treat and out and out entertainer. SS rajamouli, known for taking his time has delivered again. The performances of star cast and the kind of emotional & surreal experience the film generates make it a must watch.
The storyline, although not new and the screenplay, along with the cliffhanging suspense at the end, further embellish the film. At the end, audience are left wanting more!
On the plus side, the brilliant graphics and iconic screenplay marked by stellar performances, and the way the epic tale unfolds...a must watch!
On the negative side, the story does drag a bit!
Very often, Indian films are unfairly compared to Hollywood films. But, Bàhubali for once, redefines the standards....
