Overall, the film was very interesting. It had great satire about the major outbreak of Covid in 2020. Not just bashing one side, but looking at the craziness happening on both side sides of the aisle. As with most a24 films was very thought-provoking and very satirical of the society surrounding the events it was covering.
The characters were great. Joaquin Phoenix is the stereotypical more conservative, leaning older person. Pedro Pascal plays a great slimy politician, who says one thing, but does another. The side characters in this film were great bringing a lot of variety and some funny moments to the film. I feel Austin Butler was under utilized.
The story was very satirical of the major outbreak of coronavirus in 2020. Initially, it started off very strong slowly becoming more and more tedious however, just as the TDM started to get annoying it goes from 0-60 in seconds. After some crazy events, it turns into an all out war with excitement around every corner.
In terms of production value, I didn't see anything that stood out. A24 is a great production company so their production value is always top-notch.

If you look at this movie, simply as a movie and not part of an extended universe, it wasn't that bad. The characters were pretty well casted, the effects were really good, and the story was decently pasted and didn't get to cringe when it came to dialogue. But it has some glaring deficiencies. And after all, it is just a super hero movie. These things are pretty do it by the mold and don't stray outside the lines.
The weakest part of this movie was the villain, which is pretty important. The Lex Luther was not portrayed well. He came off as very whiny and sulky. He wasn't really menacing nor did I really care about him that much. But the guy who played Superman did a decent job. The Superman for this film was a lot less pragmatic and more focused on his main goal, which was helping out humanity anyway possible.
In general, this is pretty enjoyable and even if you're not a Superman fan, you'll laugh a little bit, wow at the cool video effects and there are some pretty hurtful moments, but those are few and far between.
The production value was very high, but this film was produced by multibillion-dollar company so I expected nothing less. The visual effects were very well done. Very realistic, and the fight scenes were very enjoyable because of that.
The story wasn't anything special there was a cool twist at the end, but that's about it. Pretty cookie cutter world is going to end story. But I will say it was well paced. There were quiet moments in between the fights and they were meaningful and they weren't just put in there to fluff up the runtime.
In general, this movie will make you wow at the fight scenes, laugh a little bit, and there are a few heartfelt moments. But these moments are few and far between.
