The first season was undeniably phenomenal. One of the best series I've seen in a long while. The characters were developed well, the storyline was amazing, and the drama spectacular. Based on season one alone, I rated the series as a 9 overall. Therefore imagine my surprise when, upon viewing/completing the second season, the overall quality of the series, took and unobstructed nose dive off a cliff. What happened? It couldn't be the death of Joel alone (as he was still used in flashbacks). My biggest gripe is the dumbing down of Ellie. She went from an intelligent and cunning character, to a ignorant annoying little girl in constant need of rescue. This series could have been great, but evidently the creators settles for decent. With season 1 at a rating of 9 and season two a rating of 5, combined the series gets a generous 7.

I went into this movie with low expectations. Upon release, my social media was littered with loathing, and utter contempt for this film. Critiques such as "Anya Taylor Joy is not the right casting for Furiosa" and "Chris Helmsworth doesn't know how to play a villain". I can confidently assure you, these statements have no basis in reality. This film is gripping from commencement to conclusion. The characters (new and known) draw emotion like venom is drawn from a wound. A respectable and profound addition to the Mad Max franchise. A prequel finally done right. The reputation of Charlize Theron's Furiosa in safe and capable hands with Anya Taylor Joy at the helm.

The Jaegers are outfitted with what I'm sure is at least millions of dollars worth of weapons. Guns, missiles, rockets, and swords, yet 90% of the movie, the pilots choose to slug it out with the monsters, or throw them into deep water rather than using the multitude of weapons at their disposal. When they finally do actually use their weapons, they easily blow massive holes in the monsters and kill them immediately. When they were on the brink of death, 30,000 feet in the air and finally decided to use their sword, they were able to cut the monster in half as if they were using a hot knife to cut through butter. Also, how are the Jaegers able to stand up in the ocean 7 miles off the coast? I get this is a sci-fi movie, but they could have at the very least, used a bit of common sense in the making of it.
