Decided to watch the Marvel TV shows in order. LC season 1 was ok on a good day. Season 2 was the most excruciating, embarrassing nonsense I've ever sat through.
The writers have obviously never been to Harlem. The huge apartments, clean streets, expensive custom-made suits, high end interior design. That's just silly and lazy writing.
The oh so holy nobility of the characters and the folk wisdom (and folk medicine) has white guilt written all over it.
The dialogue is what really made it unwatchable. I've never fast forwarded through so much of a season. Tremendous waste of time. The only saving grace is there's no season 3 I'll have to get through.

Good series, horrible episode. If I wanted to watch annoying cartoon characters, I guess I'd watch Below Decks, but since I'm not 9 years old, I do not. Frakes' direction to the actors was obviously no more complex than "pretend you beamed in from a SpongeBob Squarepants episode." And the s tors nailed it. Mote's the pity. When TOS and usually TNG wanted to get silly, they at least had the seriousness of purpose not to act like rejects from a Three Stooges short. The characters' movements, voices, even the facial expressions were meant to be comic I assume, but again, what kind of comedy? DON'T DO THAT AGAIN.
A promising beginning, interesting story, nice cinematography. Unfortunately it devolves into silly, overwrought melodrama. The final three episodes made me feel like I was watching a telenovela- it was that bad.
I really object when an otherwise decent police procedural stoops to stereotyping a female lead as an irrational, impulsive liability, rather than just allowing her to be a good detective who gets the job done. And then to have to watch her fall into bed with a hated moronic colleague in a moment of weakness - shame on you filmmakers for giving in to this kind of crap.
I'd add that I'd choose subtitles any day over the truly awful dubbing HBO Max jammed down my throat.
