As an avid reader of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, I have a personnel image of the central character. John Krasinski is NOT believable as Jack Ryan. With its canned scripts, the writers would have been better served casting Steven Seagal or Jason Statham than trying to make Krasinski believable as Jack Ryan. Gone are the depth, intelligence, and personality of the character. Krasinski plays a non-stop action maverick with the series consisting of numerous plot holes*. (*The first season showed promise). Krasinski's Ryan became a chore to watch, with each season dumbing down, steering to very un-Clancy like endings. Outside of Kathy in Season 1, does this Ryan ever refer to his family and "regular" life? Of all the Jack Ryan's onscreen since Baldwin brilliantly portrayed Ryan in "The Hunt for Red October," Krasinski comes in a distant fourth. Bottom line, a manufactured action series that falls far short of the engaging character created by Clancy.
Maggie Lawson is genuinely talented, however she is severely out matched trying to single-handedly carry this inadequate sitcom by herself. Jason Biggs is, well, his usual Jason Biggs, but the child actors are even more cringe worthy. I caught the first episode and am done...just too painful.
