Keira Knightley mentioned in a new Vanity Fair Italia interview that she did "lots of mixed martial arts, a bit of jujitsu and a bit of arnis, a Filipino knife type of fighting." Looked absolutely badass in this thriller !
Kiera Knightley's impressive fight sequences alone are worth the watch, showing her action chops in a way I have not seen her before.
The tone and juxtaposed humor work so much better than I expected .
Keira Knightley is outstanding in this British spy thriller ! I pay for Netflix for years and rarely watch it . The last spy show that was this good was Netflix British thriller "The Body Guard" which several folks on this "thread was watched and enjoyed. Also The show was produced by production company Noisy Bear and Sister ("Chernobyl"). I say keep your eyes out for this offering Black Doves is just as good ! I really hope it gets a physical release .
Black Doves" delivers plenty of heart-pounding action right from the start, ensuring that fans of adrenaline-fueled thrillers won't be disappointed. The show wastes no time diving into intense sequences, and in the first two episodes alone, we see Knightley showing her impressive combat skills when two assassins catch her snooping around her secret lover's home. There's no shortage of violence either, but it's never gratuitous. Just gritty enough to keep you hooked when the stakes get higher.
The audience meets Helen Webb (an outstanding Keira Knightley), the wife of the U. K.'s Defense Secretary and a mother to two young children whose life seems picturesque. However, there is much more to Helen than what meets the eye. For the past decade, she has worked for the Black Doves, a secret spy organization that sells the British government's secrets to the highest bidder. Helen has worked tirelessly to maintain her operation, but an extramarital affair thrusts her into a tense and intricate web of conspiracies and cover-ups involving multiple governments and organizations. A twisted thriller of a series, "Black Doves" is a fun, poignant and dizzying journey centering on friendship and connection. 8/10.

All hail TCM ! For keeping the genre alive .
Naked Alibi is a violent for 1954, thrilling film noir about tough guys and rough justice in a world that does not tolerate wimps.
I'd never seen this noir & being a genre fan .....it was a must watch Why you may ask ? Two word Oscar-winning actress Gloria Grahame.
Grahame was a regular auteur baby. Though never a major star (only a major minor one), with her off centeredness, her combination of reflective cool unique beauty and startling immediacy . She was one of the best.
Grahame has the ability to convey intense longing, long-suffering, and an alluring playfulness all at the same time. Few actresses can pull that off!
Gloria stated that she should have been paid DOUBLE for her role in Naked Alibi has she was slapped around by bully-boy Gene Barry knocked around so much Grahame received 57 bruises .
Gloria Grahame electrified moviegoers with her turns as femmes fatale in such films as "Crossfire" (1947), "In a Lonely Place" (1950) and "The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952), which earned her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar.
He underrated Naked Alibi (1954), produced by Universal, actually did bear a strong and successful similarity to The Big Heat. It's set in a border town with Grahame as a gangster's moll who helps a decent cop played by Sterling Hayden. Grahame loved making this film so much that afterwards she sent a note to producer Ross Hunter saying it was one of her happiest experiences.
You have Sterling Hayden-----Gloria Graham !! Film-Noir is in the Making.
Murder suspect Al Willis (Gene Barry, The War of the Worlds), released for lack of evidence, vows vengeance on the cops who brutalized him. When one of those cops turns up dead, his partner Chief Joe Conroy (Sterling Hayden, The Asphalt Jungle) hunts down Al who has skipped town for a border city. Both men end up in thrall to bad girl Marianna (Gloria Grahame, In a Lonely Place), whose unique sexiness is on full display in this film noir potboiler. Written by Lawrence Roman (A Kiss Before Dying) and directed by Jerry Hopper (Secret of the Incas). The strong supporting cast includes Marcia Henderson (Thunder Bay), Max Showalter (Niagara), Billy Chapin (The Night of the Hunter) and Chuck Connors (The Big Country). 7.5/10.

Every fan of psychological horror should watch this one.
Grand metaphor for drug use. Or bug is paranoid schizophrenia ???? Bug as in an illness or addiction. It open to interpretation and I am still trying to unpack this one . Judd and Shannon really spiral in this one.
At a rundown desert motel, Agnes (Ashley Judd) begins a tentative relationship with a newcomer named Peter (Michael Shannon). He has a strange charisma, one that offers fearful and unstable Agnes a flicker of hope. When Peter reveals that the military deliberately infected him with a bug and that he has tiny insects crawling under his skin, paranoia begins to envelop the desperate pair.
Starring Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon, this unnerving psychological horror film is a bizzare and rather uncomfortable watch.
Directed by The Exorcist man himself, I really expected this one to do down as one of the 'classics', but no...sadly not. It's a film seemingly forgotten with time which is quite a bummer since it's a really good movie!
Despite an unevenness to the story and the fact that it lends more to a psychological drama than horror, there is an overall darkness to BUG that shouldn't be missed.
Trivia :
The film was shot in July and August of 2005 in Southern Louisiana, and wrapped up only a week before Hurricane Katrina hit the area; the cast and crew narrowly escaped the disaster by only a few days.
Harry Connick Jr. Was cast when he happened to be sitting across from William Friedkin at a Las Vegas hotel opening, and started to "put him on" in a way that reminded Friedkin of the character of Jerry Goss.
During the shoot, many of the crew members got rashes from bed bugs in their hotel rooms.
