I remember us kids goin to school and debating with more accuracy than presidential candidates who would win in battles between Knight Rider, Street Hawk, Airwolf, Blue Thunder, and even Automan! I almost feel bad for the kids of today. It was such a magical time. It's kinda funny too if you go back and watch these shows, they have aged decently. Sure there are going to be obvious tropes and almost mad libs plots where Pilot/Driver A gets injured/imprisoned and is selected by a govt agency/agency fighting the corrupt govt to use Super Vehicle X. And of course the effects and realism are a bit dated but other than that I find them to be more enjoyable than most of the TV currently out there. Anyway it is up on streaming so check it out even if you only make it thru a few eps. The other REALLY FUN thing about 80s shows were the guest star appearances and the child actors that grew up to be adult actors getting their start on these shows and of course the Aaron Spelling swap meet of shows Love Boat, Fantasy Island etc. Good times :)
I enjoyed this movie I think lol. It is really an hour long TV episode that never got made and shoved into a movie. No spoilers here but Henry Golding's "acting" just absolutely sucked. He was mush mouthed and showed no emotion. I dont think his character was written as such, he just decided he didnt want to be there and did the scenes. Anyway Blake Lively did her best Amanda Peet impression and it worked for her. It is hard to imagine her anything but bubbly, but she did well in portraying her character. Anna was in it to win it, but also just seemed confused at times like other actors. Probably Feig's fault since he couldn't make them break walls and stare at the camera audience like he loves to do. There are severe issues with temporality like it is hard to tell how long the two characters actually hung out to be "best friends", how long the search goes on for etc. We are given the mom blog vids which is supposed to do that but they never reference each other and I just did not care enough to try and piece it together. It was a Lifetime Movie that got pushed to big screen because of the actresses I would guess. Anyway it is fairly enjoyable and I did keep watching because I wanted to know the answers too lol. I definitely recommend it for a lazy night watch. Ugh just fast forward thru Henry's parts as you will neither hear nor care what his character is supposed to be/ be doing. He gives every scene the energy we give reading the user agreements on the IRS website. Just awful. The thing is his character is a main character with several story arcs that could have been flourished to become interesting parts of the story. Maybe that is what is missing-those scenes lol.
