It's been 6 years... and I'm still in shock by how bad this movie ended up being. Unlike the prequels that have become more well received over time, this movie and the other two of the sequel trilogy, have aged like milk. This movie shows that Disney literally had no plan or vision for the trilogy. There are so many plot holes and nonsensical story beats that are either used for nostalgia or to get the story moving faster. So many times the characters betray who they are and do something totally out of character merely to either shock or to get a laugh. There are also elements in this movie that literally go against the entire point of the original 6 and retcons some of the most important things in the franchise. There is not one redeeming quality of this movie. It's the worst Star Wars movie ever made. And I'm saying this as someone who didn't totally hate The Last Jedi. I am praying for the day when this IP gets sold to another company because Disney has destroyed any love or nostalgia I've ever had for this franchise.
Watch this if you want to see how far and disturbing horror films can go... but a warning to even some of the most veteran horror film watchers. This movie is dark... Almost too dark.
I wouldn't say this movie scared me, but it definitely got under my skin. The things these main characters go through is so torturous and so abusive and so frustrating as a viewer to see them go through this experience. It's cruel. It's a very disturbing movie mainly because derange performance of the foster mom. It's extremely well-made, horror, film, but it is not a good time. I had a hard time watching this. This is one of the more depressing and disturbing scary movies I've seen in a long time. Without spoiling anything, though the main issue that I have with the mood is how how dark it does get for the main characters. It gets to the point where it's a little egregious and I had to pause and walk away and do other things after a while because of how depressing and disturbing it was getting. It's just a little too much when it's foster kids being the victim.

The best way I can describe this game is that it feels like an homage to every single genre of video game, combined into one giant experience, while also using the technology and the lore of the world to make everything fit in a story. It's pretty genius. This is what games should be. Just pure unhinged entertainment that's fun for the sake of being fun. Is it weird? Yes. Is it silly? Absolutely. But it's made by someone who doesn't care about the rules of what a video game is supposed to be and is making a game I think that it should be... fun. It's like if somebody had a fever dream of the most badass video game of all time, but couldn't remember the dream... Death Stranding 2 is that dream.
