  • Really fun and light hearted series

First, this is a forum for reviews. Not everyone is going to love or hate a show and when considering whether or not to watch something I welcome both perspectives. With that said I really wish some reviewers would quite saying "ignore the negativity" or "don't believe all the hype" when sharing their POV as if their perspective is all that's important. Pardon my digression.

Chad Powers turned out to be a fun uplifting series about the power of second chances and most of all forgiveness. Maybe a little Mrs. Doubtfire meets Ted Lasso. As a die hard UGA fan I was at the 2024 GA/Miss State game where the final episode was filmed and as a Glen Powell fan had been anxious to see the series. For the most part I loved it and was strangely rooting for Chad in the finale when he walked on the field to face off with my beloved Dawgs. If you're a CFB and especially SEC fan you'll probably get a big kick out of the show. My only frustration is there were just 6 short episodes. Hopefully we'll get a second season, at least.

  • Suspicions Confirmed

As a fan of the highly popular "Blue Bloods "I never understood why CBS chose to cancel a show still in its prime. It was a great show with an interesting concept focused on family values and professional loyalty. I had my suspicion the cancellation was due to the show not fitting into CBS's political agenda but didn't wanna believe it. I just streamed the first episode of "Boston Blue" going in with an open mind and here are my takeaways.

The Good: Senequa Green brings a fresh energy as the female lead alongside Donny Wahlberg, the only actor to make the cut from the original BB cast. The pair has great onscreen synergy as does the talented supporting cast. The setting in Boston is beautiful. Since the pilot episode was more about setting up the characters and drawing parallels to the fan fave "Blue Bloods", there was minimal focus on the crime of the week and therefore I can't fairly judge on how interesting the crime procedural aspect of the show will be.

The Bad: I find it unfortunate they felt the need to recast one of the main characters from "Blue Bloods" who also happens to be the pivot point to "Boston Blue". Fans watched this character grow up for 14 years and it feels like a slap in the face to the actor who portrayed him for the life of the series.

The racial undertones start early with the announcement the Boston PD will be suspending use of a face recognition software that appears to be biased toward AA, coincidently developed by an AA who turns out to be a suspect of the crime of the week. Then we have main character Lena making references that she's held to a higher standard because of skin color. There's a hint of sexism with a male detective/colleague. Then there's the new blended family at the heart of the series checking all the boxes that "Blue Bloods" obviously did not.

"The Ugly" While a wonderful actress, Gloria Rueben is no Tom Selleck.

The "Boston Blue" parallels to the Regans in "Blue Bloods" with their unique professional dynamic and family dinners seems like a stale attempt to endear fans of the original instead of relying on the talent of the cast to carry the new show.

As another reviewer noted this would have made for a nice crossover to "Blue Bloods" but not a replacement. It's sad CBS doesn't recognize there is room for both shows. I used to stream "Blue Bloods" the Sunday after it aired but won't be rushing to watch "Boston Blue". However I will pay attention to other reviews and maybe stream the episodes at a later date.

Finally, it's interesting they're making Wahlberg's character's move to Boston temporary. I guess that means if "Boston Blue" doesn't make the cut they still have an option to try a different spinoff route for the beloved original.

  • Sheridan Resting on his Laurels

"Landman" started out great with a promising cast and engaging story arcs but episodes 4-7 have been on a decline. Other than Thornton and Larter (who's a hoot in this), we're served bits and pieces of the other stars and story arcs. We know Taylor Sheridan can tell a compelling story when he wants to but as of late seems to think that requires a lot of sexploits, vulgarity and violence. Perhaps that's the life of a landman but there are more creative ways to engage an audience. I'm a huge fan of many of his other shows but he seems to have an endless assembly line of new projects and for me it's impacting the quality of content.

  • Tyler's Cronyism Casting Falls Short.

I love movies of historical significance and usually find Tyler Perry an effective story teller so was excited about this movie. I'm giving it 5 stars for the talented newcomers in the supporting cast as well as the story but sadly find everything else disappointing.

Maj Charity Adams was born in NC, raised in SC and 25 years old in 1943. However Perry chose his buddy, Brooklyn born Washington, who's almost twice that age, to play the heroine. Not only was she completely miscast but truly hammed up her portrayal with a phony accent and screaming almost all of her lines. Sam Waterson was equally out of place as FDR, again screaming his lines. Which brings me to Oprah who's the last person most people want to see on the big screen now days. Casting her as Mary McCleod Bethune added nothing to the movie.

Prior to the Netflix debut the movie had a 5 IMBD rating and 43 on Rotten Tomatoes. It's interesting most who recently rated the movie a 10 on IMBD advise others to ignore low ratings. Guess Perry recruited them too.

  • Just Delightful

Julia Child was so far ahead of her time and inspired the likes of Martha Stewart and Ina Garten and helped usher in the FoodTV revolution. She also brought awareness to public TV and encouraged quality programming that was accessible to all. She inspired millions of housewives and home cooks to take on the art of French cooking.

This series couldn't have been more entertaining or uplifting . Sarah Lancashire is phenomenal as Julia but the other cast members are equally impressive. The historical enlightenment is only one of the many great things about the series. The story takes place at a time in Julia's life where she was looking for her next inspiration in a manner of speaking. Most of the major characters are at similar junctures in their lives. As they find themselves stepping up to support Julia's project they fuel their own inspiration and become part of an unlikely family a long the way.

For those upset with the off color language, I say get over it. First, the occurrences are few and far between. Most important, Julia was a Smith educated and some what liberated woman. She served in WWII, was cultured, traveled the world and even lived abroad in Paris. To think she didn't use a four letter word once in a while is just unrealistic. If you're looking for quality TV with healthy servings of history and inspiration, check it out.

Well done HBO! Im so glad to hear the series has been renewed.

  • How much sap can one channel show?

I get we all need an escape from negativity, violence and profanity laced programming once in a while. I loved The Good Witch movies and especially the series because they were an escape from reality with an ongoing back story to keep the reader engaged.

As far as this snooze fest, it's going to take more than attractive stars to keep me interested.

  • Another Apple Original...

I have enjoyed everything I have watched on Apple TV. Little Voice is another gem. It deals with all the prevailing social issues of the day without being in your face PC. It's a very uplifting story about a young woman who despite being dealt with some hard blows in her life works 6 jobs, takes care of a special needs brother and still has time to focus on her dreams. She has a circle of friends who rally around her and help keep her spirits up. Brittany O'Grady is beautiful and talented and the rest of the cast shines as well. If you are a dog lover you are in for a treat. I am 6 episodes in and hooked.

  • Season 3 is disappointing.

After really enjoying the first two seasons I was anxiously anticipating Season 3. When I noticed Sesson 3 only has 8 episodes I decided to pace myself and only watch one episode a night. After the second episode I was losing interest so it really wasn't a challenge to forgo a binge. The Pros: the clothes, the music, the addition of Sterling Brown and seeing Susie and Midge develop and engage in their respective roles of manager and comic. Beyond that I feel like Season 3 is otherwise a disjointed hodge podge of uninteresting story lines for Rose and Abe as well as Joel. It seems like the reoccurring theme of the season is disappointment because each of the main characters have a major set back this season and none of the challenges are resolved but instead lead to one major cliffhanger. With that said I feel the writers have a great opportunity to bring back the magic for Season 4.

  • Season 1 is outstanding but...

Season 1 was outstanding. It was a little dark but all in all it was a positive ending and Billy Bob Thornton and the supporting cast were outstanding. Season 2 literally made me ill, I can't believe I watched every episode. I saw the negative reviews and was assuming Amazon did as well so I came back for Season 3 hoping for more of what we saw in Season 1. After five episodes full of dark and twisted antics similar to those in Season 2, I almost threw the towel in but I stuck with it and was pleased we got some redemption from Season 2. I do hope there will be a Season 4. If you watch you will understand what I mean.

  • Informative and Entertaining

Kutcher and Gad do a great job in their portrayals of Jobs and Wozniak. We get an insider's perspective of the passion, chaos and drive that made Apple a reality and how a nerd and a narcissistic visionary honed their perspective skills to jump start what is now the most valuable company in the world. If not for Woz, the humble talent behind the strategic but arrogantof Jobs, one has to wonder if the Apple I would have ever come to fruition. Most guys would have kicked him to the curb but it was his ego that got them where they needed to go. I never realized how cutthroat and neurotic he was throughout most of his life. The movie is a sobering reminder that the brains don't always profit as much as the voice since we now know that Woz is worth $100M compared to Jobs' billions.

  • Wonderful Movie

I found this on Amazon Prime Video and having never seen it in the theatre decided to give it a try. Melanie Griffith is absolutely stunning. Melanie, David Morse and the rest of the cast did an outstanding job in this thoughtfully written and well directed flm about civil unrest in the South in the early 60s. Intertwining the light hearted and almost childlike fulfillment of Lucille's life long dream to make it big in Hollywood with the backdrop of the violence and intolerance of the Civil Rights Movement in her hometown in rural Alabama has you laughing one minute and almost in tears the next. Bottom line, it's a great story of personal growth, tolerance, justice and unconditional love.

  • Season 2 Is Dreadful

Season 1 was great but after a two year wait for Season 2, I couldn't be more dissapointed and want my eight hours back. The storyline was so depressing and gruesome. The talent of Billy Bob Thornton is completely under utilized in the freak show of a plot. It's not a legal thriller but more like a murder mystery, and a bad one at that.
