I am not a Catholic, and I agree with other reviewers saying you don't have to be Catholic to appreciate and enjoy the story. Pryce and Hopkins, whoa, what can I say, those two always excel in their roles especially in an old man character heheh. Their chemistry makes the banter really special - you can feel the emotion changes with how they do that subtle expression changes or body gestures really really well.
I recall seeing the Pope first appearance on TV while I was younger, and even then I understand a bit that this Pope was (and still is) special because of his back story. Really appreciate this movie to do the storytelling in a very fun way. I thought this movie will be all dialogues, but no. How could the two popes enjoy pizza, beer, soda so calmly like that - considering their age? LOL I don't know if it's real or not but I truly enjoy seeing that small details.
