Very pleasantly surprised. The film is unexpected and uses its narrative device well. Emotionally believable all the while staying dynamic for the viewers with its multiple storylines. I throughly enjoyed how unpredictable it stayed, no one storyline was fully negative or positive, it illustrated the ups and downs of life with grace and honesty.
In conclusion, check it out if you can and you won't regret it! Sweet, thoughtful and an emotional ride. Support small French cinema! 🇫🇷
Only gripes: I would have loved to see an ending that shows all of her lives, since it seems to prioritize one of the outcomes over the others which defeats the films own message. Apparently the couple in the film never heard of the concept of adoption (?).

"A Secret in the Box" is an intelligently made and dynamically edited film that explores and subtly critiques a unique Latin-American period (the Peruvian/Ecuadorian wars). It does so creatively and leaves us with a surprising, charming and delightful mocumentary that is all to underrated.
