  • Didn't want to like it - but I did!

This is a strange one. I went in totally prepared not to like this movie. The left leaning politics was as bad as I thought it would be. And that's a shame. But still! Wow what a movie it was!

Seeing this is really what makes watching a real movie so magic. It takes you somewhere, it let you experience, it let you marvel at the good - and thankfully - not color coded cinematography. It let you appreciate good directing. And good acting.

It's a long movie - and that's good. Because it let's you hang out with the main characters for a longer time. The piano score is as bad and irritating as it get. BUT, then suddenly they play the song "Soldier Boy" at just the perfect time, and you forgive the bad piano score. So it's up, down, and sideways, and it's hectic, and it's crazy, and still I liked the ride. A lot!

It's just something with this movie that took me by surprise, that made me think about it days after i viewed it. That made me talk about it with other people. And Sean Penn, wow, what a performance: cruel, and at the same time funny and interesting. Brilliance. Every supporting character, doesn't matter how small, is fantastic. And Chase Infinity; what a natural!

So... yeah. I could say a lot more about this movie, but I wont. But, to my own surprise, I will see it for a second time. Why? Well, that's why it's so interesting - I don't know.

  • Bad Bad Bad

So, here comes another tobacco commercial. Let some people smoke to a bad script, call it a comedy, throw in some virtue signaling, get some semi known actors, and a lot of money.

Then let the poor people who - actually have to pay for it - see it, and at the end give some Hollywood hypocrite lecture of why it's so much better to be poor and a good person, than rich and a bad person.

    Cash in. Repeat.

  • Brown and boring

Story: Let's make the monster into something more like a superhero, that can take 20 shots without any problem, and that can breath under water. Then let's make the storytelling a bit artsy fartsy and while we're at it let's make the dialogue cringe and a bit pompous too.

The look: Let's tint everything in brown and blue. And, you know what; let's make it a bit... hmmm, almost fuzzy. Then we'll turn down the lighting so the movie becomes even darker, and even more boring to look at.

Now: Let's look at the good reviews that always pops up like magic, and let us all laugh all the way to the bank. The End.

Ah, while we're at it, please tell me, why make a whole new body of different body parts - when you can just take a full body and reanimate that instead? Stupid, right?
