Universal has made some of the greatest "Monster" flicks in history, with some of them transcending the genre into the realm of being real landmark cinema. The original Frankenstein, Dracula and Invisible man cast a net far beyond the original "Shocker" premise.
Monster on campus seems to be cut from a lot of that same cloth, as by now the studio had the formula down firmly. Perhaps that's the problem. This is a somewhat by the numbers movie that uses an interesting cast of characters and a somewhat original formula. While this is a great drive in movie it never comes close to the level of involvement of the previously mentioned movies.

I remember coming across Bishop Sheen from some discarded library VHS tapes (remember those) I watched one and was captivated. I am not a Catholic person, but I am a Christian and I was bowled over by how Bishop Sheen made complicated subjects understandable to the average person with no formal training. His lessons ALWAYS came back to Jesus Christ, the Savior of mankind.
Sheen had great personal energy and used a chalk board to illustrate and teach. Sounds pretty boring correct? NO, this could not be more wrong. His enthusiasm for the subject is infectious and deeply touching. I showed youngsters some of his old talks and they were even fascinated, and good teaching is something every parent ought to share with our kids.
Bishop Sheen discussed many topics, shared funny stories that are still relevant today. I would love to see his shows show more widely today, or perhaps a similar follower of Christ could teach.
If you get a chance to see one of his shows take the chance. Give it ten minutes and I'll bet you'll be hooked. His love for Christ and teaching the message of Christ is infectious. He was a serious scholar, yet at the same time had the incredible knack for making complicated concepts very simple and easy to understand. No teacher is greater than the Master, yet Sheen actually is able to give us glimpses of who Christ is and what he did for us, and where he leads us. That type of gift is very rare indeed.
A show for the ages.

This story deserves to be told to our kids and grandchildren. Why no video release that would cost a pittance. Once upon a time in America we had programs about history and heroes. We seldom talk openly about American heroes anymore, and prefer to elevate celebrities. Here is a real story, about real men, placed in a very difficult situation. The Captain, Lloyd M. Bucher was a true hero who saved the lives of those under his command.
This movie was originally broadcast on television and I watched it as a young person. It is riveting and I remember the intense interactions of the Captain, the board trying him and his captors. Recently I watched this again and it was even better the second time I saw it.
Staged in Acts like a stage play "Pueblo" is riveting in its portrayal of men under duress, and the pressures they faced at the hands of an enemy, and then their own superiors when they did return home. This story deserves to be heard and seen by new generations of Americans.

Well filmed and lots of energy. That's about all the good I can say... I could seldom follow what they were singing. Incredibly self indulgent, overly woke to the point of self caricature. If I paid for a ticket I'd be angry at myself. I respect those who liked this, but I can't bring myself to pay attention.
Just finished watching the movie and the word that comes to mind is - well- underwhelmed. Despite having some fine actors and actresses it never really draws one in to the level that you suspend disbelief to really "Get into" the movie.
Much can be forgiven if a movie packs an emotional pull to the audience- plot holes can be forgiven and wooden acting given a pass. But the really truly big flaw in a thriller type movie is not getting the audience involved and caring about the characters. That's really a fatal flaw for a thriller.
