Maybe a bit too long of a runtime but I'm thankful that we have a true adaptation that understands its meaning & impact. The editing is so sharp & full of fascinating imagery. The score is very powerful & always accentuates the needed tone. Overall, the visuals & acting are pretty rough but there are some shining moments here & there. Such an epic conclusion to this first trilogy that carries all the weight it should.
Everything that makes this franchise great is present at often with new & exciting developments to existing concepts. Plenty of crazy & violent sequences of chaos & carnage. The cast does a very convincing job across the board, especially the actors who play children in adult bodies. Yet this is an establishing season with a pace that doesn't have a steady acceleration. All the pieces are clearly there but it never really feels like it fully takes off.
It's satisfying to see a screenplay given more than enough time to tackle the massive scope of this story. The production value is very poor but there's something awesome about seeing this world in all its grand detail. A very faithful adaptation that understands & respects the source material. It embraces the difficult aspects of the plot boldly, even if it doesn't always land it. Regardless of the poor visuals, there are still many moments where the artistic vision is present & beautiful.
