This is one of the most beautiful and utterly heartbreaking things I've ever seen. To watch the way Sissy Spacek so perfectly plays this character, all of the sadness and confusion, all the horrible realizations, is watching art. I wasn't sure that an entire episode delving into Ruth's Alzheimer's experience would be good, definitely not fitting for a "scary" storyline. But to see the way they depicted someone living their life this way, jumping timelines and memories, I actually could feel my heart racing with the terror of knowing there are people that actually do have to live like this, or similar.
I love a good horror, comedy, and holiday movie, so I figured this supposedly being all three would be great. Wrong all the way around, this was not at all what I was expecting. It was one of the slowest, most boring movies I've ever watched, almost every character was just awful, and the whole thing just ended up being depressing as hell. Absolutely will not ever watch this again. Also, the "shock" at the end my husband called pretty early into the movie.
