Daddy's Home (2015)
Expect to laugh .. like A LOT!!
I had this movie for a few days before I decided to watch it only because there wasn't anything else to watch. I was not expecting much although I love both the leads and I recognized the little girl from this TV show called Lucifer so I knew she could act. Thomas Haden Church and Hannibal Buress are really funny and they manage to steal the scenes every time. The movie is simply hilarious and I am not exaggerating when I say that I started laughing right from the very first scene until the last minute of the movie. It's a nice feel good movie and I am only giving it 8/10 because the ending is a little predictable, nevertheless highly recommended.
Whitney (2011)
A 4.9 rating? Seriously?!!
I wanted to watch this show ever since it came on the air, but hesitated when I saw the low rating.
I finally caught up with all the episodes two days ago. I watched 22 episodes back to back because I just could not get enough. The whole time I was watching it I was thinking "why the low rating?" so I couldn't wait to log in and write this review.
The show is named after the real life stand-up comic Whitney Cummings so one would think that she'd carry the whole show on her weight and deliver all the funny lines, but it's actually not. This show is hilarious. It is so funny as in I actually laughed. The chemistry is amazing between the lead characters and I love their friends too.
Don't trust the low rating. Go watch it right NOW.
Jab We Met (2007)
My faith has been restored !
I love everything about Indian movies. Even if they sometimes come as unrealistic, but this movie is something different. I've had the misfortune of watching many movies that were either too unrealistic or too westernised which made them lose that special magical Indian touch.
This movie had that touch. Kareena proved that she can indeed act without over-acting and the chemistry between her and Shaheed was incredible. Shaheed also proved that he can be taken as a serious actor.
I loved the songs and the simplicity of the sets. there were no over-budgeted scenes of Indians living abroad. This movie was all in all Indian in its essence and that's what made it a big hit.
Kambakkht Ishq (2009)
How dumb do they think we are ?
I honestly truly believe that this movie is the worst movie I have seen in years. I hold a great respect for Indian cinema and I have been in love with Bollywood since before I could even walk my first step.
The thing about this movie is that it is ridiculously illogical in every single aspect, not to mention the lead actors serious problem of over-acting. I loved Kareena in 'Jab we met' and I thought "well this girl finally proved that she can indeed act normally", but this movie changed my mind.
To be fair though, I did laugh at times. Not because the scenes were funny, but because they were sooooo stupid that I just couldn't help myself.
Table for Three (2009)
why oh WHY Sophia ?!
I just finished watching this movie, and believe me the whole time I was watching it I kept yelling "why Sophia why?". I am a huge fan of Sophia Bush and she's the main reason I watched the movie. I even dragged my friend with me and she was actually counting how much time left for the movie to end! one thing did make me laugh though and it was the matching outfits thing, and that is why I gave the movie a 2 and not a 1. The crazy couple did a good job being 'crazy', but still the plot was too weak, and Brandon didn't convince me in being so infatuated that he would 'forgive' the couple and even go on a road trip with them! Grrr.. I want my 85 minutes back.
Matab sena'y (2006)
I have never laughed this much in a movie ... !!!!
Hi... I'm not a fan of Arabic movies, and you'll never find me at the movies waiting in line to buy a ticket to watch an Arabic movie, but I've heard so much about this movie that I decided to give it a try, and now after watching it I can honestly say that I have never laughed this much in a movie, It was VERY VERY VERY funny, and I'm still remembering bits of the movie and laughing about them... I've seen Helmi before in some lead roles but none of them is like this role, although it is the typical " silly funny good guy whose trying to do everything right " role, but this time he's done a great performance with lots of wit and humor. I also loved the little girl, she's really gifted and her acting comes out naturally.
Spartacus (1960)
salute to a great movie
I cannot believe that I had this movie in my collection for 3 YEARS and I just had the time to watch it, maybe I was hesitant because of it's length ...
Great acting by Kirk Douglas "salute" :) and a wonderful first encounter with the lovely Jean Simmons ... Loved the character of Antoninus :)
AND HERE COMES THE SPOILER ... the scene where Spartacus and Antoninus fight is the best scene in the movie, I guess you truly feel what kind of a person Spartacus is and the kind of morals and values he and his fellow gladiators stand for ... I give 8/10.
The Message (1976)
A true representation of the history of Islam
I was very young when I saw The Message for the first time and even then I remember being very proud of this movie. I have been wanting to watch it again ever since, but didn't have the chance until a few days ago. Being an Arab Muslim myself, I couldn't be more satisfied with it.
I have watched both versions of this movie (Arabic and English) and they are both great. This movie is remarkable in all it's aspects and the acting is excellent in both versions.
Given the present circumstances, I'd recommend this movie to all those seeking to know the truth and history of Islam as it is a true portrayal of the struggle of prophet Muhammed to deliver the message of God to the world and a display of the principals and standards of Islam.
