Breaking News: the Collision of Journalism and Consumerism in a Democracy
Media experts such as Walter Cronkite, Diane Rehm, Brent Bozell III, Martin Walker, Yevhen Fedchenko, Tetyana Ledebeva and Jeffrey Dvorkin debate whether capitalistic and governmental controls impede the development of public media within a democracy.
Using Ukraine's Orange Revolution as a launching point, media experts around the world explore how the concepts of a free press work in concert with (and in contrast to) the consumerism in modern democracies - forcing the audience, regardless of nationality, to ponder:
