JW CORTES shares the Madison Square Garden stage with legendary front-man Roger Waters of Pink Floyd and his wounded warriors band, led by critically acclaimed band leader G. E. Smith of Saturday Night Live, for the STAND UP FOR HEROES concert. As an actor, he trained in New York City at the world renowned William Esper Studio under highly regarded teacher Terry Knickerbocker. He is best known for his work as an Operative on NBC's fierce reality television show, "Stars Earn Stripes." During season one, he had the pleasure of training, mentoring, and executing training missions with honorable celebrities. The celebrities include Terry Crews, Laila Ali, Dean Cain and Todd Palin. As an avid activist, he helps to not only raise awareness but also much needed funding for various charities and organizations that include Autism Speaks (his youngest son is on the spectrum) and the Wounded Warrior Project. In partnership with the Bob Woodruff Foundation, JW Cortes joined legendary Pink Floyd's Roger Waters on stage at Madison Square Garden to help raise nearly six million dollars. He can be seen in various other projects to include FOX's Gotham as Detective Alvarez, NBC's Taxi Brooklyn (dir. Olivier Megaton), Amoral a new web-series, Blue Caprice (Isaiah Washington), As Good As Dead (Andie MacDowell), Latin mega-star Yovanny Polanco's music video "Como Funciona El Amor" and in Sarah Fimms newest music video "Killing Machine" where he portrays a veteran struggling within the grips of PTSD. #officerhollywood
