Santa Face Cookies
Please sit back and enjoy this amazing guest post Santa Face Cookies from my friend Callye who blogs at The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle. She is one of the most talented people I know; seriously each cookie she creates is a work of art. And let’s be honest… you would rather eat a pretty cookie than a not-pretty one.
Hi, I’m Callye and I am so excited to be hanging out in Katrina’s Kitchen today. For those of you who don’t know me, I am a cookie crazy Texas girl who loves cookie decorating so much that I write an entire blog about cookie decorating. If you love cookies, be sure to come visit my blog, The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle. There are always cookies happening at my place! Christmas is really the busiest time of year for me, so I thought it would be fun to come on over and show off one of my most popular decorated Christmas cookies, Santa Clause!
This may look like a difficult cookie to master, but broken down into steps, Santa is actually a very manageable cookie, even for beginners. To make these you will need:
- Santa shaped cookies
- red piping and flood icing
- medium and stiff white piping icing
- flesh tone twenty-second icing
- black candy beads
- pink petal or lustre dust
1. Begin by outlining the hat and beard
2. Use twenty-second icing to create a face. If you need help with flesh tone icing, click HERE.
3. Immediately drop in two candy beads for eyes, then fill the hat
Let the cookies dry for 4-5 hours, then move on the the next steps.
4. Fill Santa’s beard and add a nose and wait for about an hour before moving on
5. Use the stiff white icing and a #13-#16 tip to add furry accents to the hat
6. Use the medium white piping icing to add eyebrows and let the cookie dry completely
7. Use petal dust and a very small brush to rosy up Santa’s cheeks a little
8. To finish up, use the stiff white icing and star tip to add a mustache. Start in the middle under his nose and drag the tip out, then, do the very same thing on the other side. Let dry completely and you have a crowd pleasing Santa!
If you are new to cookie decorating, be sure to check out my tips on outlining and flooding cookies, baking the perfect sugar cookie, and coloring and preparing royal icing. I also have simple basic sugar cookie and royal icing recipes.
Thank you again Katrina for inviting me to be a part of this cookie extravaganza! I cannot wait to see what comes next! I hope to see all of y’all around my place during the Christmas cookie season! Happy Baking!
UPDATE: Callye had a BIG IDEA and is combining 3 guest posts to bring you Santa BELL-Y Cookies! See her tutorial on how to create Santa’s belly over at Life’s a Batch and his legs at Love From the Oven. The tutorial for the elf cookies is on her site.

Thank you to Callye for bringing the cookies today. If you have been living in a hole for the past year or if you are new to the food blogging world I hope you will stop by her blog. You may want to leave yourself about 2 hours to gawk. I love her 20 Second Icing because I’m lazy impatient. She’s spreading Christmas cheer all over the internet. Look at some of her newest Christmas creations. {She’s Ahhh-mazing!}
