Introduction: Wooden Swivel

In my Engineering class we were asked to come up with an idea for our final project. This being my last project with this teacher, I thought I would create something that I would continue to use in the future. This lead me to a wooden swivel idea that can hold pens, pencils and desk little supplies. I even thought of incorporating a charging port so it could have more use.

Step 1: Cutting a Circular Base

I had to create a circular base so all the pieces could stack upon of it. To achieve a perfect circle, I used mastercam and a CNC machine to mill out a circle. The circles diameter is 6 inches.

Step 2: Creating First and Second Level

Since the base was a circle, I thought it would be unique to have squares stacked on top of each other. The biggest square was a 4 by 4 inch piece of wood and the the smallest square is a 2.5 by 2.5 inch piece.

Step 3: Creating Storage Space

In the wooden swivel above, I made multiple holes in the second layer to hold pencils and pens. I then used a dremel to drill out a slot to hold little desk supplies.

Step 4: Painting

I wanted to give the swivel a brown color to match with my current desk furniture. I would suggest to use any color you like or a color that matches your current furniture.

Step 5: Assembly

Get a screw, nut and 2 washers. You use the washers to create space between each layer to allow you spend each layer independently and smoothly.
